Ando81 got a reaction from Stevemack in Oil Filters discussion
Hey crazy, I have used Baldwin b2 filters on an old tractor at work. Maybe you could contact a machinery supply shop in your area to supply you with b2 filters. I might give them a go on my ute instead of the z9

Good choice. There are some really good big dollar oils like Rob mentioned that are the go if your have serious shit going on in your engine.
For an off the shelf oil in our crossflows i recommend HRP30 full mineral as choice 1 or HPR gas 20 full mineral choice 2
If you are running high ethanol mixes then go full sin racing 20. Racing 15 will be okay if your engine is really tight and has good oil pressure.
Do not use ANY additives in any of these oils, You don't need it. I mean it, extra Zinc (zddp) and teflon (ptfe) will do NO good after run in. These oils have sufficient zinc and molly (or boron?) levels and teflon don't do shit to help engines it just gets stuck in your filter.
The only additive i might use is Lucas oil stabilizer but only in old tired engines that actually need it.
I can talk for pages on why i choose these oils over other off the shelf oils but i wont.

Ando81 got a reaction from Thom in 1990 XF ute 4.1 carby, air leak
There is a few different vacuum hoses from the manifold to the carb that can perish or fall off one end. If you leave the engine running and have a listen and feel around it won't take long to find the leak. The leak will be causing it to run like crap. Sometimes a bit of electrical tape wrapped around the hose can be a temporary fix until you can get the hose replaced. Good luck!

Ando81 got a reaction from n00bus m@x1mus in Crossflow alloy head casting numbers
Is there any chance that some of the odd head combos could have had something to do with crossflows that were in f100's? Just a thought, I'm only guessing

Ando81 got a reaction from deankxf in Weber carby leak
Finally fixed the fuel leak on the weber today. I found the needle had marks on it so I replaced it with a new one and new seat. Haven't seen an all brass needle into an all brass seat before. I just put a standard rubber tipped needle back in with the new seat. Seems to run fine with no leaks!

In my xh I replaced the ashtray with one of those standard din trays (didn't take too much effort to fit) and I put the cigarette lighter in the console (commodore style I feel dirty for typing that)

Slydog, thanks for the reply mate. My mechanical pump will do me fine then. I just got the new diff to get better gearing. It's a 3.27 lsd from an ed to replace my 2.77 lsd behind my t5.

Thanks for all of the shared knowledge fellas, I think we can all learn something from everyone's different opinions. Don't be sorry for getting into technical info or going off the thread topic,
I'm only too happy to learn and hopefully someone else can get some good tips from the discussion also:)
