SLO247 got a reaction from Ants in XG 4.0L conversion to AU XR6 motor
Plugs straight in. As long as the XG has smartlock it should just work. Gains BBM/thermofan control too.

SLO247 reacted to steve mcqueen in Can I plug XF heater box straight into XG dash without mods?
Id say they are the same shape but because the XG was designed with the 4 litre and the XF wasn't they are going to be different.
Plugs, ecu, all the wiring etc.
Id swap the lot over.
Put the XG heater box in there.
just a few size 10 nuts on the fire wall and the XF heater box is ready to remove.
Put the XG one back in, then the rest of the XG dash, wiring harness and you should be on the home straight.
Really lookin forward to you "turning key" on this one.
Oh, and do what slo247 suggests, remove the heater core and check it for rust.
Its only a few more screws, some sticky glue between the lid and the body and its out.
Flush some water through it with the garden hose and check for leaks.
Its a good chance to remove all the leaves and bird nests from inside it to.
You dont want it catching fire once its back in the car.

SLO247 got a reaction from XFute-1JZsoarer in Can I plug XF heater box straight into XG dash without mods?
I'd pull it out and check the heater core.
Aren't the AC lines different too? Won't matter if you aren't using that.

SLO247 got a reaction from XFute-1JZsoarer in XG ignition barrel and door locks
I think the plugs are the same for the switches. Just fit the smartlock bypass/j3 and plug in the xf ign switch. Done!

SLO247 got a reaction from XFute-1JZsoarer in XG falcon wiring diagram
Just swap them all. Rip them all out of the XF and throw them in the bin. Take them all from the XG labeling as you go and fit them all to the XF.
Look at it this way; strip the XF shell and reshell the XG into it. Just fit everything. You will need to anyway for it all to work.

SLO247 got a reaction from Ants in One Hell of A Doosie!
Have you tried another BEM/BCM? I think they had them back then. I know the smartlock module was seperate to it in EB/ED.
Does it have the standard stereo or an aftermarket one? If its aftermarket I'd be checking the wiring and making sure its not grounded wrong or anything weird like that. The CRT LP circuit goes through the radio loom and can cause problems if theres any weird wiring happening.

SLO247 got a reaction from bear351c in 351 Cleveland in a ZL fairlane 1985 carby
Well thats easy. I've already changed the springs and shocks. I was given a set of mount plates years ago too.
Thanks Dave.

SLO247 got a reaction from XTREME KARTS XF in efi 302w, anyone got a part number for a shorter non-a/c serpentine belt?
Shorter belt will work on a 5L. Cut the belt, wrap it around how you want to run it and measure how much you need.

go back to the stores and tell them a competant parts interpreter can find them in under a minute and they should go work at maccas lol
you have 2 options
1) Nice products, available threw any auto store, see attachment
2) Bullfrog on ESPGHIA makes them himself, my last set i got in black for about 120 a set i think

SLO247 got a reaction from Damo96 in XH buckets into XF ute with a bench?
Sometime in 88 XF switched to EA-D seat fitment, XH is EF/L Fitment.
Not a straight bolt in but if yours is a late ute it shouldn't be too far off. I'd be finding some EB/ED XR seats. EB1 seats with the dark trim would be a good match in an XF too.

SLO247 reacted to Tyler06 in anybody done a custom headliner?

SLO247 got a reaction from n00bus m@x1mus in Engine paint.
I used VHT satin black on a Windsor. It was cleaned and put plenty of coats on. It was ruined after the owner had a heater hose let go and was covered in muck, it was stained. Its porous and just crap. The gloss may be better. It certainly looks like the killrust is many times better. Cheap as hell too.
I used the VHT stuff on the extractors and it was a dull washed out finish too.
Currently have done my XF in Duplicolour silver and its fantastic. Didn't even clean it first, went on great and its tough and a very nice finish.
Looks like the killrust is the go for sure however. The blue there looks similar to the Ford blue on the Clevelands to me and the red looks great too.

I thought about that too, just try and pull it square so you don't jam it on a weird angle on the studs.

SLO247 reacted to hendrixhc in XD-XF Bucket seat bolts
That is correct that they are square head bolts. I found on both the XE and XC the bolts are the same. The little frame they have over the top of the bolt head is useless as fuck anyway and the bolts still spin. If you are going to replace them i would just go with a high tensile UNF bolt anyways and get the ball and chain under the car to tighten them while you lie on the seat and hold the top bolt.

SLO247 got a reaction from 'Nova in XH door locks keep cycling
Yeah I sell sets of four for $60, and sets of the door lock/latch mechanisms for $60. I hate greedy people, they always sell easy at that price.
All I have are a spare set of each for my EF.
The door mechs are easy too, XG-XH are identical to EA-EL. They are everywhere.
