Mainly my XD, my fiancè & my 4 kids. Other interests include V8 Supercars, fishing and fucking... and beer... i like beer. I like fucking after a night on the beers, but i tend to not want to work on MNTL.XD if i'm hungover, then i sit around feeling like shit putting up with fighting kids and a missus that wants help around the house, so i try not to drink too often.

Sorry, my interests aren't very interesting.

  2. Good to see plenty still going on in here Rod, quality work as always! Wow, that Torana bonnet came up sweet, i want me one of those tools too! Is the strange gap at the front of the bonnet caused from the nose cone laying forward? That's what it looks like in the pic. Re: Gerrys coupe: I know the rare spares replacement panels are crap fitting but have you seen the Astill (Howard Astill) replacements? I spotted them on facebook yesterday. He has complete parcel shelves. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Thanks Rod, i was concerned about the sealer being too hard and cracking back off over time with vibration so done a bit of research before doing the boot and those were the numbers i was advised to use. The original factory sealer had gone quite hard over the years and the skin and frame were pretty much still only holding in one area, the rest had literally snapped off which is what made me originally want to check in the first place. I just used 221 Sikaflex between the skin and the frame in the boot which is alot softer and elastic, it's not hard setting like the 252 Sikaflex which i only used around the edges to join the panels. I'll be doing the same with the bonnet. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

As Rod said a bit of tappety tap around the outer edge and sikaflexed, wipe any excess sikaflex off so it's nice and neat along the join, then i will mask it with a soft edge and etch, prime and spray, then i will give it a light rub with fine paper and polish it, it will be un-noticeable. The good thing is the paint inside all the weight saving holes in the frame will be perfect which you simply cannot do any other way. Add the fact that all rust between the frame and the skin is completely gone it was a job 100% worth doing and should last many years. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Yeah, sorry man, don't get as much time on the car as i used to. Nah James, it was alot easier than people make it sound, i don't know why it's not more common to do tbh, pretty much put a cold chisel on an angle and belt it along the edges and they open right up as you go... too easy. I got the bonnet skin and frame painted weeks ago but had poor results so rubbed them back and done them again. Much better this shot. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  12. I for one absolutely love your work Rod, i watch alot of car building shows on Austar, almost daily, there really isn't much difference between your work and those blokes, and they're doing full show cars. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Yeah, being spring atm you've just gotta work with what you can, Thursday was like 15° so i pressure washed and set up the gazebo and left the painting for Friday which was 28°, then rain and 16° today, 22° tomorrow and 27° Monday so will try to get it ready for paint by Monday, i have the kids and a busy weekend booked so probably won't happen, back to 19° for Tuesday, then 22° Wednesday and 24° Thursday so might aim for Thursday, it goes back to rain again Friday and Saturday... ... and there's the forecast for the week ahead folks! lol. I've also been doing rust repairs on the XE so have had to pick the right days for that too, it's out in the weather so bare metal isn't the best if rains are on the way.
