SPArKy_Dave reacted to n00bus m@x1mus in Thom's 4.0l thread
It would have to be in the head on a chain and torqued down for that too LOL
Righto, well like i said earlier there is sfa difference between their entrance level cam and there top end cams all except their speedway cam is quite timid spec wise. We will see how they go i spose. its an extra $850 to install the custom grind that camtech was quoting me on so it will have to wait until ive got the coin asside unfortunately. If i spent that now i would have none left to get it back in the hole hahaha.

I asked the cam bloke for a high torque cam, which would have a bit of a lope to the idle, and work well with an auto, 1800rpm stall, and 3.23 diff.
That's what he made me.

SPArKy_Dave got a reaction from Ivanflo in Suspension Height rules - (govco links included)
I'm interested to see what the rest of the world thinks is 'safe' compared to our Hoon Law loving modified car hating governments.
I might forward the info onto the Gruntfile dudes, who are heading up the AMEP.
They might be interested, since modified vehicle 'enforcement' is a hot topic atm.
Plus it's interesting to see just how overbearing and unnecessarily complicated our vehicle regulations are,
when compared to our 'close cousins'.
I'll tidy up and refine the above thread, as I gather more info.

I also got a custom head built, that I haven't used on anything yet -
Started with a brand new casting, had it ported and port matched to the standard XG log type manifold, stainless steel XR6 valves, crow 115lb dual springs, crow retainers and collets.
Plus a Clive Cams cam, made from a new billet purchased from Crow.
I got a crow vernier gear for the cam.
Also got a head stud kit to use rather than bolts, and an ACL race series gasket kit.
Any good?

SPArKy_Dave reacted to XES in el thermo fans onto xf
I put one of these in my xe to run a set of ef thermos yesterday
It has variable temp that you can set, controls both of the ef thermos. One fan comes on at one temp and the second comes on 10 degrees hotter. Override is on the AC switch in the car if u want them both running full time.
The temp sensor is a probe that goes in the fins on the radiator on the inlet side. I only gave it a quick test yesterday but it seems to work great. It also runs the fans at full speed. Comes with easy to follow instructions. I got it from VPW.
Part No. HAY-3654 Cost is $42.40. http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/6198
Now the components probably don't cost shit and if your handy with electronics you could make the same circuit pretty easy. But I liked how easy and compact this was and it suits me fine and it was easy to wire up. And I got trade price

SPArKy_Dave got a reaction from TiddleZ in 250-300hp Crossflow
Because they're a big dirty tractor engine in standard form, designed to live at 2,000rpm for most of the day.
In everyday driving, you can't take advantage of high end power anyway.
Make maximum use of what the long stroke six cyl does naturally - generate heaps of low down torque.
I would just try to build on that, unless you want to spend a fair wack of money.
You'll feel an extra 50nm of torque, so much more than another 50hp.

SPArKy_Dave got a reaction from ZL. in 250-300hp Crossflow
Also remember, that a crossy won't like a large diameter freeflowing exhaust system either.
If you've got no backpressure, you'll lose alot of lowdown torque.
