xr6tjet got a reaction from Outback Jack in Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)
Sanding looks okay id say the finishing polishing method you are using is not sufficient enough to bring out the shine. Need to get a few different grade polishes and pads then finish with a wool pad with purple polish.

xr6tjet got a reaction from 2redrovers in Cleaning underbody with wire brush - any asbestos in factory deadener?
Thanks for your reply mate, that is good to know. I wear the 3m mask anyway just wanted to be sure it didn't contain any of it. Its got that much dirt on it I'm wire brushing it all to break it up.

xr6tjet got a reaction from Mr Polson in Paint Protection Film
Buy a heat gun, it is a good investment. I ended up having to do a similar job and had to go out and buy one. Am surprised at exactly how much I have used the heat gun since then!

xr6tjet got a reaction from LTD083 in Anyone used these repro bumper chrome?
This stuff made by Ben at trimmaster is an exact replica 3m tape he had made up. You won't beat the quality! Wheel arch moulding is more for XE/XF

xr6tjet got a reaction from Campo in XF intank fuel pump upgrade
All the pumps when you take it out you can modify a fuel pump to fit in there. Lucky for you they are much easier to modify. On my AU I had to cut the pump housing to fit the walbro 255.

xr6tjet got a reaction from bear351c in xf ghia cruise control not working
Nope I couldn't get mine to work, tried a low mileage cruise unit which is in perfect condition no avail. Noticed they were different from my original one so I put the cable from the new one on my old one. Tried swapping ECU's behind the trip computer but no success. Still no idea why it won't even show me a sign of it working, literally nothing happens when I press the set button.

xr6tjet got a reaction from bear351c in Trip Computer Stop Lamp Warning Problem
Sounds like you have a very used trip computer, the ones I have seem to only have the fault of losing the date every now and again and the warning lamp displaying. The brake lights work no problems though. Glad you fixed it with what you have! I wish I found someone who could actually repair these trip computers fully. Cheers, Alex.

xr6tjet got a reaction from bear351c in Trip Computer Stop Lamp Warning Problem
Hi mate yours has 4 rows because it is a high series trip computer like mine with the extra functionality like DTE etc etc. The one in nigel's post is just the standard base model trip computer. I ended up removing the globe in mine on the best trip computer I own and haven't had a problem for about 2 years now. The date and time even holds everytime I leave the car. Some people complain about that problem as well.

xr6tjet got a reaction from Thom in Aircon pipe repair - Melbourne
It's the pipe which is directly under the airbox and out the compressor. It is wrapped in some fibre material. If you knew a NOS one that would be superb! If you want a photo I will try and grab one over the weekend

Hey mate, the way I restored mine was got the aftermarket bodies and put the original ford glass on them. They look as good as original and light up really great.

If anyone is interested in a water based tyre shine, Wax IT sells a great tyre shine totally water based which can be sprayed on whitewalls and standard tyres. It gives a nice matt shine.

xr6tjet reacted to THORNSPAWN in converting a barra to carb
Better off with EFI though it would work. there is nowhere to install a dizzy in a BA block so you would need a computer to run it anyway.
Locking cams is also a stupid idea. You have all the features of a BA motor why remove them all and go backwards?

xr6tjet got a reaction from XPT in converting a barra to carb
Just use EFI? It's better and can be tuned even further...

bodyline use to make the stuff for ford, they still do and that is the stuff you want. It is available from supercheap auto called "wheel arch mould" about $25 which is enough to do the front and rear bumpers.

xr6tjet got a reaction from PH351 in XE-XF Rear Courtesy Lights
Hey guys,
Been chasing a set of new rear courtesy lights for a while and on ebay the NOS ones go for way too much. I've been doing some research and noticed a few fords from the states also have the same courtesy lights. Can you purchase them anywhere in australia ? Linked below:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/69-70-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-Interior-Rear-Courtesy-Light-Lamp-Assembly-/251383109420?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AFord|Model%3AMustang&hash=item3a8799d72c
Will these fit in an XE-XF I imagine they are exactly the same?
Cheers, Alex.
