gromet88 reacted to Ecksef in Ba falcon Egas details
Dual fuel is like any aftermarket mod really. Some are good, some are bad and some are really really bad.
When I first met my partner she had an '05 Camry on dual fuel, it would cut out randomly on her, after a handful of times of it stalling through a roundabout in heavy school run traffic I bought myself a VZ wagon petrol only and made her swap with me. My safety is far less important than that of her and her children.
My BA had cutting out issues, that was traced back to a dicky converter and solenoids in the gas tank - which eventually shat themselves and left the car stranded. Solenoids replaced and good as gold.
Gas cars are a luck of the draw thing. If maintained regularly, serviced and system checked every 2 years, should be right as rain. Seems a lot of people have their car serviced and overlook maintenance on the gas system. Don't maintain something, it'll fuck up. Especially with the shit LPG we get that clogs up the converter.
Although with buying a dual or dedicated car, I'd recommend having the system serviced and checked straight up, sellers might have a RWC done and service the engine, they mightn't bother with the gas system. Why spend money if they don't have to, right?

gromet88 got a reaction from Outback Jack in One Hell of A Doosie!
not yet, havent got to it this week. had to get it done before mid this month but between work and kids, and working out the back here, so lol, bought something else for the minute but will give this some more time hopefully this weekend. i think it might be another loom, whichcould be more hassle then i have time for at the moment so it might go back in the corner for a couple of months. sad but these things happen.
bit of annoying really, seems to be something really simple but yet annoyingly finichy!

take a look at both set ups before swapping. if the plates are the same, shouldnt be a problem apart from obviously the shifter.
im with bear, its hard to tell. ive never converted back, always converted to floor personally

gromet88 got a reaction from mcfly94 in Can you use a AU series 2&3 ecu into a sereis 1 AU?
I'd prob just put a series 1 back in it, save all the trouble. i would say it would end up not working like the ef's have the different colour boxes, i would think au would be the same

gromet88 got a reaction from steve mcqueen in Anyone here fitted an EFI 302w into an XB? Any issues?
i would say all is different. power steering lines, right through to bell housing bolts will be totally different.
the set up is totally different from the early early x series to the e series and you will have a different sump pan/ clearance as well. the engine mounts would be different as well (from memory). it'll be basically like doing a e series set up into an xf.
all from memory, from what i remember a friend doing a nc2 302 into a XB.
REV will be the best to answer i think, but the question must be asked, what the hell happened to the 351?

Best to connect all four wires. get a manual handy to work what colour is what, but from memory, on is 12+ ignition, one is -, one is 12+ battery memory, and the other is light dim for day brightness and night dimness. best to grab a manual to work it all out.

gromet88 got a reaction from mcfly94 in installing electric windows into gl falcon
Easy to do as above. Better to move whole doors across, esp if they have electric mirrors and door locks. then easy has getting looms to middle console (in xe) and then getting power to the console for ignition. I did it myself in my XF ute with fairlane doors with a fairlane console. its just getting the looms to through the door to the console, that is the only if you call it, the hardest part. Xf's are a little different obviously because the control panel is on the door (hence why I went for the xe/zk set-up) but its all basic. EF onwards is the annoying ones because they run off the ECU next to the steering wheel. But shiot easy job to do in xe.

gromet88 got a reaction from bear351c in Can 5.0L injection (of eb/ed/ef/el/au) be fitted to any 302?
yeah well over here and esp SA, its a c*nt to mod cars as the government has these little do-gooders in their ear and bit*h moan and complain if anything is changed from factory. There was a huge thing over here couple years back about people getting American classics and couldn't them registered because they weren't in the factory ordered colour scheme or had a cd player in place of the old AM stereo. Itsjust a joke. the crap they label under 'roadworthiness' has nothing to safety

sorry to say, if you think the eastern states have better roadies, far from that. the corruption is much worse in the eastern states with their roadies as it just goes to a 'approved' mechanic and they choose if your car goes on the road or not. they can take basically any fee they want, and cash under the table. ive had cars fail over there for having a f*cking seatbelt twisted. not at the mount, just twisted, took 15secs to untwist it. had another one fail for the trailer plug being bolted in upside down (the tab was on top, instead of the bottom). The government takes coffers from the 'approved' mechanics and arse rapes them with fees which in turn they pass their attitude on. I know im prob gonna get abuse from this but that's my experience with them. SA is the only state in Australia now that doesn't require these stupid checks, and im enjoying the time before all the do-gooders get their way and we have them introduced.
I still cant get over how much that stupid logo cost

basically only if you modify the seating layout or capacity do you need a mod plate. I have seen people get defected for putting racing seats in, even properly so it can be a touch and go subject

gromet88 reacted to Lord_fahrquhar in Can 5.0L injection (of eb/ed/ef/el/au) be fitted to any 302?
Easiest way to do it. The other is to give the transport standards branch a call and discuss what you want to do. Then take it from there.
I'm staying with a 4.1 for this reason. I just cant be fucked with the aggro.
