    Ok bit of a minor update. 
     
    My plans to drop a 1600 / 5 speed driveline into the car, is definitely gaining momentum. 
     
    Ive sourced a Type 9 for a great price, cheapest ive ever seen. 
     
    And ive also got a lead on a freshly built, high comp, mild cammed 1600. Ported head etc. 
     
    I had a lengthy conversation with one of the most knowledgeable Escort nut I know, about the 5 speed conversion, and it is 100% a bolt in conversion. Bell housing is the same as my 4 speed, flywheel, clutch and cable are all the same, tail shaft is the same, speedo cable has to be longer. 
    There is just some fabrication work to be done underneath, and the shifter hole needs cutting out a bit bigger, but that can be done by Mark while its in the shop. 
     
    The one and only con I can see about this conversion is, its terminal. As in, once i do this, if i ever wanted to go back to the 4 speed, it means another round of cutting and welding to reverse it all. 
     
    im excited, but im yet to speak to Mark about the extra fab work

    As far as I know falcon didn't have 3.7 r31 skylines did and pintaras did must you want a skyline or aftermarket gear set as pintara gears aren't case hardened and will break alot easier

    2k with a 5 speed would pullit up for me mate. Those gearboxes are weak as piss and series 1 ba engines are know as "skinny rod" engines, the skinny rods are about as strong as the T5 gearbox.

    $3500 is too much.
    You need to cut stuff to fit it.

    14's clear the rear disc's easily.
    Ea/b/d xg and xh s1 all had 14's on them from factory and ran rear disc's.
     
    My wagon runs an eseries diff and i ran 14s on the back briefly.
     

     
    The 4 pinion eseries diffs will take a hiding too, mines now done passes into the 100s and is yet to give trouble, all stock internals too.

    Thom. I have the pin out to turn those solenoid controlled boxes into a switch auto. We have been using them in the burnout scene (switch autos) for awhile now, mainly to get around the overspeed issue when using a stock computer.
    But having said all that the c4, c10 route would be easier.
    XG is essentially xf with different radiator support area. No K frame like XH. XH Utes can be a pain cause they were a model on their own. That is guards, bonnet, bumpers and roof line are all different to xg, xh.

    Ok cool, Lucky this isn't your car then. I've used them for some time and I have no problem with the quality or finish of their product. Damage like that in the pictures could easily be caused by incorrect assembly.
     
    I buy mine through my local PIRTEK dealer and I have had zero issues. Like anything man made there will be failures. Especially if the end user screws up assembly, then blaims the product. But to date I've not had a failure on any of their fittings or their other products.
     
    Each to their own.

    Can't go wrong with a stock ba/bf turbo on a 4l. The fg f6 retained the bigger turbo, only the xr and g6et had the smaller one.
    300rwkw is just scratching the surface power wise of a boosted 4l (single cam or barra the principal is the same), there is really no need to look any further than the stock bseries turbo at that level.

    been a bit of discussion lately about spot lights, fog lights, normal headlights and XR6 etc lights.
    unfortunately i just removed My XG XR6 lights (due to not being able to see where i was going on low beam) so if anyone has a good set, would be good to see similar.
     
    pics were taken about dusk, so not fully dark. about 3 meters from the gates..
     
    if you could post up what you have and a similar pic and maybe a pic of the glass lense condition (often sandblasted) that would be good.

    I'm not sure this will end well.
    Looks are very subjective.
    Au's may be "ugly" but they've aged better than anything from that era,and are the most reliable car ever built in this country.
