Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute
Ants replied to Outback Jack's topic in 4.0 OHC
2k with a 5 speed would pullit up for me mate. Those gearboxes are weak as piss and series 1 ba engines are know as "skinny rod" engines, the skinny rods are about as strong as the T5 gearbox. -
Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute

$3500 is too much. You need to cut stuff to fit it. -
Must be some load on the stock axles when it's doing this too lol

14's clear the rear disc's easily. Ea/b/d xg and xh s1 all had 14's on them from factory and ran rear disc's. My wagon runs an eseries diff and i ran 14s on the back briefly. The 4 pinion eseries diffs will take a hiding too, mines now done passes into the 100s and is yet to give trouble, all stock internals too.

Can't go wrong with a stock ba/bf turbo on a 4l. The fg f6 retained the bigger turbo, only the xr and g6et had the smaller one. 300rwkw is just scratching the surface power wise of a boosted 4l (single cam or barra the principal is the same), there is really no need to look any further than the stock bseries turbo at that level.

Do you do gm delco's at all? -
They will fit for sure, same offset no dramas.

There are/were tray back xr6 one tonners, they had 16" alloys factory.
-
Exactly as easy as you described it. I've done it a few times.
-
My wagon has been running an xd master with ed diff since it was built and has very good pedal feel.
-
Got any shots from further back?

If you were to use the bonnet of an xg you would need to use the whole front clip, guards lights bumper etc. It all fits but it's different.
-
I've never had an fg one play up so have not had be pleasure of learning how to do one.
-
I know with ba and bf once you've removed the barrel you've fucked it and you need to replace the steering column. Good luck with that.

Ranger was pulling 4th gear with near new bfg all terrains, the road was slippy up here.
-
How long since it rained on the roads in your area? This was the first rain in a while up here, there will always be a build up of oil on the road after a dry period making it very slippery.

044 under the guard in the f6 is the same, very loud

I know the xd and xe's run weird voltage for the guage sender and it costs a fortune to get a speedo place to make an eseries sender run an early guage ($500 odd in my wagon). What about a vl pump? They ran an external unit, i used one when I converted a wb stato i had to efi.

You need to prime it for sure. Run some plastic adhesive primer over it first, the some primer filler over it,if it fluffs up,give it a sand with some 320 between coats. If you are painting it in solid 2k 320 is as course as I would recommend (i finish with 400 wet myself ) if it's a metallic I finish with 800 wet.

So i was being somewhat facieous mith my last reply, but yes my point was just about every old car would be able to be defected if you wanted to,and you don't see blokes going to jail for little crap like oversized tyres, you're just scare mongering suggesting it. As far as insurance goes,if something goes wrong you will be dealing with an assessor. In my experience dealing with assesors (I grew up working in the smash repair industry and made a few claims myself as a young bloke) 99%don't know their ass from their elbow. I had a silhouette gts skyline many moons ago, I had three at fault claims in 18 months (i was an awesome driver on my p's),the car got assessed by 3 different assesors and not one picked up that I only had it insured as a silhouette. In ford terms that would be like having your fpv f6 insured as an xr6,most are too ignorant to notice or don't want to deal with the irate customers if they knock them back. So in answer to the question asked, yes they will fit,yes they will be fine, and not that it was asked but they may be illegal but in my experience no one cares or my f100 would have defected long ago,and yes there is a very slim chance an insurance company may reject a claim because of them but it would be extremely unlikely.
-
Lol,the f100 passed a rwc with those on,but go on about how I'm going to jail. Depending on where you are it may or may not be legal, but to answer the question yes it can be done and given how much work my f truck does it's certainly safe if it isn't legal. Saying I'd go to jail if i was in a stack is a very simple way to look at it.If it could be proven i caused it specifically because of so called illegal tyres then possibly, but not if something happened that wasn't my fault (unless I had a very stupid lawyer). All the guys running holleys on cars after xa's must be shaking in their boots, they're all baby killers too by that logic, and i know baby killers my xd wagon runs purely on baby's.
-
That's a 295 on an 8,hasn't come off yet. 295 on an 8&3/4,again a lack of dead babies.
-
Done it plenty of times,no babies were killed.

The egas engines run higher compression than a turbo engine.
