just a heads up, tramp rods don't help you in a corner, just in a straight line
try buying new leafs, should help a lot, and get a decent set of shocks, koni's etc and make sure the bushes are good.

I know 20's on x series aren't everyone's cup of tea, but i do like the look. I had the 19's on there before and i little bigger would be better imo,
Saying that i do like smaller wheels e.g. snowies, convos, weld star pros in 15's, and i like the look with 18's too. I'm gonna keep an eye out over the next few years for some second hand 18" Avant Garde m220's which are a mesh rim, a one peice copy of HRE 501 3 piece wheels which are like 1500 a wheel, i really like the idea of but not sure enough to fork out a couple of grand for a brand new set.
I'm starting to see them on beemers a bit which i think are the same stud pattern, offset would be wrong im sure, but with some adapters and at the right price second hand id like to try and find a set to ad to the collection.
    Theses ones

And i really want to track myself down a set of 17" terri chasers like XES has just thrown on his XE, but silver with chrome dress rings and a thin redwalled tyre, a modern take on the old s pac style.
Yes i have issues... but i don't think im the only one

They a big wheel. 18's is as big as id go but of cause its not my wheel or choice.
Toss a coin heads for gold, tails for silver.
I dont think you will go wrong.

I helped remove a c4 and 302 w out f an Xm then we replaced it with a c9 and 351w. Fitted easy but the trans crossmember was already modded.

Pan fill c4 (c10) probably won't work due to the rounder front. Stay 157 tooth fly and you won't have a problem.

It's more than just a engine. TBH if you spend $3500 on a engine expect to spend that on a drive line and acc to suit it to do it right.

Build a big engine and run a stock geared stock driveline and you will loose every set of lights. If staying manual you will NEED a proper clutch around $600.Then you will kill T5's like no tomorrow. Then you will fit a LSD to the diff when you fit correct 3.7 plus gears, then you would realize all the auto car's are still beating you so you want a C4 and convertor which will cost as much as the engine almost.

Mark, i have that wheel in my Hyundai excel, its very comfy and does the job perfect.
My wood grain wheel is close to the one you also have. I had to scan a pic into my pc
as i dont have the car anymore but still kept the wheel and it was taken near 20 year ago.

It really does come down to application and personal preference. Your right in saying the crossflow is stupidly simple but some people would think your simply stupid for sticking with it. We are so spoilt for choice for engine selection it can send you in circles cause even each engine has different options. Main thing to focus on is what you want the car for as that will usually never change, and dont forget budget cause rebuilding anything even a crossflow will chew up cash damn quick.

Technically speaking when replacing an engine with a newer one you must use the newer engines complete pollution system. BUT that doesnt really apply to crossflows as the covered so many years and as said above you would just bolt you inlet and exhaust manifold to the newer engine. The regulation has more to do with as Steve mentioned putting in a ef-au motor where you have to retain all factory systems( unless going straight lpg which means you can do almost anything). I also agree with Steve on changing a standard 200 to a standard 250 is not really going to set your world on fire. But before you put the new engine in the car there is nothing stopping you "fixing" a few things is there.
A 4 litre conversion is definatly worth considering but it does depend on what your plans for the car are. But that is a different discussion all together.

Nath, im gonna say if your going to all that bother for a small up grade and i mean track an engine down, engine swap etc etc
you should go for a 4 litre conversion like Project Goldie. You have a great base car to kick off with, the XD, so do a 4 litre conversion.
You wouldn't be happy with the 250 crossy, you would have to wake it up with a cam, extractor and some head work at minimum
    for more power anyway.
Most XD's came out with a 250 from factory so if you stick with that combo just find a 250 from an XF (good luck) and use that motor
but use your inlet manifold, exhaust manifold and presto, your good to go. All that effort for a tiny bit more power = WOFTAM
Go and "test drive" an EF/EL/AU from a car yard and compare the power from it to your current XD and you'll be wanting to do
    it quick smart.

A word about devices that use the mobile phone network to track your stuff.

There have been two recent occasions when I investigated these items. Firstly, "GPS car trackers" that SMS the physical location of your vehicle when I was considering parking a car or two in storage. Secondly a "trail camera" that sends, night or day, footage of the pricks nicking your stuff to your phone as they are doing it when I caught a nuffy red-handed in my back yard.

Of note, while I was doing some digging, is that Telstra is switching off the 2G network in 2016. Optus's 2G network already has very marginal coverage. A lot of these devices are only enabled for the old 2G/GSM network and will be of little use in the near future. So consider whatever you buy, buy carefully.

Some vendors...especially the Ebay ones mistake the fact that because the 3G network uses similar frequencies to the the 2G network (850MHz, 900MHz etc) that 2G devices are compatible with the updated network. My understanding is that they are not....different protocols are used and therefore the 2G devices will cease to function as intended in time. The major carriers are "refarming" the frequencies used on the 2G network elsewhere...

So do your research before laying out the readies!

SMS tracking old or new phone so it SMS codes for specific Reasons it set off. Just take a small card in your walker what the codes mean. You learn them anyway

    PC tracking using online software.

smartphone online tracking using the above platform.
    Cost $20 per year

Easy install with external gps antenna for good reception
Can go the whole hog and connect up doors, lights so this will take some time

Not bad to set up all via SMS.
You need a SIM card so will have a small fees for a super basic sim or prepaid. You sort that out yourself

I will get some details for in car cameras soon. Janus are a good brand with 2 cameras in one.
