XTREME KARTS XF reacted to hendrixhc in Rocker cover studs
If they are 1/4" you could use an ARP clevo pack.

1/4" UNC you'll need chris, mesure the thickness of the gasket and the cover to determine the length of studs/bolts you'll need

XTREME KARTS XF got a reaction from Panko in Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)
A V8 will solve the issue of the strut tops not fitting properly LOL (sarcasm)
If it was me i'll be shortening that negitive battery lead a little (so it doesnt rub on the rad support and or bonnet) and turning the terminal around abit
When i last drove my XD (this winter just gone) it was running abit too cold for my liking (like 140F - 150F) So i tapped up half the grill with a piece of cardboard and 2 inch electrical tape. Looked stupid but it worked and got the temp up to 170F-180F (didnt get any pics)

XTREME KARTS XF got a reaction from CHESTNUTXE in 84DA CROSSFLOW BUILD
What @Mr Polson and @ando76 said. EA accel pedal will be also fitted. Cable wont be bolted to the firewall like on eariler cars, has a sqaure end where it clips into the pedal base.

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to ando76 in 84DA CROSSFLOW BUILD
The later Utes used the pedal with the in built throttle stop, a good thing by the way. They also located the cable on the end of the bracket, rather than the firewall. This is also a good thing as it leads to better cable routing. The side benefit of the use of the xg/xh cable is also a win.

Mines a 89 model and has the newer cable. I daresay the change occurred in 88 when XF sedan/wagon stopped and EA started.

from factory,
i also think this escort either has too good a fan(like a locked up clutch fan on an XF has same effect although robs HEAPs of power) or thermostat issue

diesel gemini has a bigger radiator than the petrol..

XTREME KARTS XF got a reaction from ``` in Ryco Transmission Filter Kit
A mate of mine used a Ryco filter kit when he serviced the C4 in his XC Monty, no issues with quality.
Just remember when you remove the filter, theres a spring and a pressure limit valve and BE SURE NOT TO LOOSE THEM! When you remove the filter the spring will come first then the pressure valve, take your time and be careful as it may spring out on ya! Reverse order for installation

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to Valvebouncer in XF/G DOOR HINGE QUESTION
Just a thought, could you pull the guard off and change the pins and bushes with the door shut?
It might be easier than trying to readjust the door.

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to deankxf in XF/G DOOR HINGE QUESTION
i had an awesome thread with pics of how i fixed it.. pics wont work now.
basically remove hinge, make a plate to sit between the door and hinge and bolt it back together..
welding it would be the best way, but temporary fix lasts longer than a good door..
check the hinge roller actually rolls, otherwise it may have cracked by people opening the door too wide(or wind catching it) ford's idea of a check strap only took about 20 yrs or so to be improved.

one at a time should be fine, access from behind the mud trap in the inner guard plastic would be how i'd do it..(kill the redbacks before sticking your hand in there)

i used a 1/2 inch socket from in the inner guard from memory. only ever did it the wrong way(with a spanner) once...

XTREME KARTS XF got a reaction from Valvebouncer in XH XR8 Steering
EF and EL are different from each other and XH is different again (from what i've been told) I used an XH 6 cylinder one for my XH V8 S Pac (mine doesnt have the fast ratio steering rack like XR models do) Bolted straight in and no issues. They only go on one way as there's flats on each end for the pinch bolt to pass through. You'll be able to do it in about 5 minutes, change it out from underneath the car (thats how i did mine being a V8, 6 cylinders through the engine bay given the amount of room there is) You'll need a hammer, flat blade screw driver (helps with opening up the clamp ends) 10mm spanner or a 3/8 drive ratchet, socket and breaker bar (use the breaker bar/handle first so you dont destory the ratchet mechanism)

If you pop your head under the dash and take a look where the clutch cable goes on XF to EL/XH (wouldnt suprise me if AU where the same) you'll see that its double skinned and "almost" ready to take the XC-XE clutch cable bracket or the hydro master cylinder Just drill and chop whats required

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to Thom in Can a green au gas engine be put in a petrol car
It can be used and will go straight in as long as you put the efi intake and wiring loom on it, they do have higher compression than the petrol engines so it would be a good idea to only use 98 octane

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to deankxf in XE Running issue/34 ADM carb question
i never check spark plugs if its running properly.. whats it run like?
have you checked the fuel line hoses aren't cracked? i had leaks under the passenger door area where the rubber hose joins 2 metal sections due to age cracks in the rubber.. also same at petrol tank to metal lines and between fuel pump and metal hose..
the newest XE is 33yrs old..

XTREME KARTS XF reacted to Mr Polson in XE Running issue/34 ADM carb question
Mate water in exhaust is normal - cold air turns to moisture and is expelled from the exhaust with the exhaust gases. It's black because the inside of your exhaust will be black from natural carbon build up - carbon being a natural byproduct of the internal combustion engine.
It's a ute yeah?
Have you checked the fuel pickup in the tank is sealing properly? That can contribute to fuel smells, especially in utes.
