blackxt got a reaction from 351XD_Fairmont in T5 and SOHC into XF
I put a au engine in my xf earlier this year .
I used rod shop engine mounts to suit a Barra conversion as there the same blocks nearly
And a sway bar from tuff mounts to suit a Barra to clear the au sump .
I used a stock v8 core radiator but spun it around 180 degrees and welded the fittings on the other side of the radiator
I run straight lpg , and a dizzy out of a xe falcon .. I'm upgrading the ignition now but it works pretty well at 7psi Or would be good for carby/lpg n/a engine
You will just need a xf t5 crossmember for t5 conversion and a manual pedal box

blackxt got a reaction from Xgpaddywagon in Removal of lpg gear
Keep the lpg and pull the petrol out My au gets about 600ks a tank on the hwy . Cost about $50 to fill the tank ..
If you put some more timing in it and it will go well also .
Only problem is in country towns it's hard to get lpg ..
It's kinda a unfinished project , I just put the 225 there because it fits better ..

I'm in the middle of building an au vct motor. They adjust 6 degrees from memory. It'll have a BW 66mm turbo.
I'll let you guys know how that goes.

I have a mate who makes about 300kw in a daily xg .. using those rods . Much Cheeper than trying to fit arp to e series rods ..
What's the specs of a dev5 ??

blackxt reacted to XF001 in Turbo xf falcon.
Success. Have got a bf turbo barra motor with all the bolt ons as well as all the bits like loom, ecu etr to make it run. Motor should be delivered to my place by the end of next week.
Now let the fun begin.

blackxt reacted to XF001 in Turbo xf falcon.
Been a while since I posted so I thought an update was in order. Had a guy who builds turbo motors come and have a look at the bitch and he was straight up with me about what was required.
He estimate of what it would cost to rebuild the motor, set up a decent engine management system and all the other crap necessary to make a reliable street car has forced me to look at other options.
My thoughts now are leaning towards a turbo barra transplant, most likely from an fg falcon.
The search has now begun for an fg turbo motor with all the bolt ons, computer and loom.

blackxt got a reaction from PH351 in Give me a shopping list - XG turbo ute
If your trying to sort turbos . May I suggest look for old bush bearing to4b or air research .
I have seen hundreds on gumtree , rebuilt then never used as there not the "in" thing .
It Will last you for years , will serve your purpose , and can be found for under $400 .
A friends el has a home made collector manifold , xr6t injectors , cheep eBay fuel reg , walbro 225 , eBay t04z , nock off turbo smart wastegate .
Manuel gear box , standard motor and a chipped standard computer .
It ran 10psi , tune was horrid , all up had spent under $2000 and it ran and drove great until the old boost bug set in.
I've found if you can do the fabrication you can build something fairly cheep that can be reliable .

With only one muffler it would be okay , bigger is better .

blackxt got a reaction from gerg in Gra onto ea centre point manifold.
Gra on a centerpoint will work with the correct adapters. Heaps of setups done like that before. I'm running a impco 225 on a mulitpoint manifold ATM but its very restrictive , I'm in the process of having a motor built that makes around 200rwk on petrol , its just street drivable , but I'll be running a Aussie speed 4 barrel and gas research . Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

blackxt got a reaction from slydog in Aussie speed inlets
Yeah that was the first plan . Same thing its just a big pain , the engine bays really neat with the converters hanging of the engine. And under the manifold . Even considered a bbm manifold with a nizrpro top.

Nethier of us have much motivation ATM for totaly redoing what is there . We had hoped with a Aussie speed manifold we could just bolt it on , fix the fuel distribution and mabey pick up a few HP.

Also I should mention I'm well aware that a well designed plenum is the ultimate way. But we are not chasing big power and possibility of future engine swap , so not looking to spend serious coin.
