PSI_LTD got a reaction from Thom in Wastegate positioning
1. Avoid having extra flange joints pre turbine... so no gate adapter plates.
2. Reallistically u should have the gate either off both branches, if a log manifold, one off to the side is fine. The turbine option is ok, just ensure its welded right.
lol at the pissing contest though..

make your own. use one of those digital pressure sensors, run 12 V to it, and hook the output to a 1/4" valve..

PSI_LTD got a reaction from Trev Vaa in GTX housings (compressor and turbine)
that sounds awesome..
good luck finding info on turbine sizing (learned that when I was at ford from the turbo engineers) - dont remember the maths involved.
but the compressor side is explained over at turbobygarrett.com.
keep us posted!

PSI_LTD reacted to wazzy250 in OTD250
Congratulations goes out to Ken for posting a 11.323 @ 116MPH at the winternationals at willowbank over the weekend. I believe this is the quickest pass for the car so far. Ken also went some rounds in eliminations but was eliminated in round three.
Cheers Wazzy

PSI_LTD reacted to rswepn in Can you run 2 external wastegates on a single turbo setup?
Yes you can. I am running twin 44mm Tial wastegates on my 4L.
Basically, sometimes when using 2 small a gate, it will not hold low boost.
Some people also have split pulse turbos and run a gate off each bank of the manifold.
And yes, 2 x 38mm wastegates will be fine, but your probably better off going with 1 big single. Easier to plumb and less messy in the engine bay.

PSI_LTD got a reaction from revhead in Gas aint gas or is it?
pure propane is closer to 110 ron. if you can get it, use it.
butane isn't as pure and has suspended waxes from the refining process. over time, these condense into the gunk we find inside the gas converters.

PSI_LTD got a reaction from thunderbolt in diy gas conversion?
what i did was retrofit the entire system, and refer to aus standard #something.
then, the car was taken into a gas shop, checked, complied and certified.
so, from memory the rules are thus:
1. tank securely mounted in non-passenger compartment (fully airtight from environment - that's why they have the pipes routed to exterior)
2. stamped, in date tank
3. lockoffs at the tank and engine bay
4. double insulated copper line of flexi hose (application specific), rules apply for routing and clamping.
5. electronic safety switch for lockoff control
6. other bits i probably left off
7. and obviously no leaks anywhere
seriously, it's not hard. but don't think it's something you can have a go of without doing research and testing it after.
