I didn't create that thread but I did have some input on it years and years ago (I think my username was still t5xf) but I'm certain that thread was on xfalcon, or possibly even xfords, either way I don't think I have the pics anymore but I am have a look on my parents computer when I go over there tomorrow

I put a au engine in my xf earlier this year .

I used rod shop engine mounts to suit a Barra conversion as there the same blocks nearly
And a sway bar from tuff mounts to suit a Barra to clear the au sump .

I used a stock v8 core radiator but spun it around 180 degrees and welded the fittings on the other side of the radiator

I run straight lpg , and a dizzy out of a xe falcon .. I'm upgrading the ignition now but it works pretty well at 7psi Or would be good for carby/lpg n/a engine

You will just need a xf t5 crossmember for t5 conversion and a manual pedal box

Also there's no need for xg engine mount chassis plates for an au engine unless you're going to use a log manifold instead of the bbm that's already on it. Xg's only had them so the log manifold would clear the strut tower whereas the with the bbm theres no such problem

if you decide to go a big block, just keep that nice 289w package all aside and dont chux anything out as stuff is getting hard to find and very pricey, those 289w scream their head off when throwing some coin at them, and light too,if it was me i would keep the block ,buy a 347 stroker kit, some afr or other alloy heads, nice carby and manifold, and rebuild the c4 you already have with a street stall converter and off ya go.

Have you got any pictures of removing the old seal from the timing cover? I've been told before how to do it but mines either baked into the cover or I'm just hopeless as it will not come out

I'd try cutting half of it out and checking clearance before removing the whole thing. By the looks of it you'll only need to remove around half and will have the clearance needed, nice setup too mate

Did some modifying of the Throttle Body. It had these 2 pipes coming out of it which were for vacuum signal and sucking engine fumes from the rocker cover to the throttle body.
I deleted them and also needed to fatten up the inlet area as the silicone hose reducer was alittle loose for my liking. Plus the T-bolt clamp was wider than the standard lip area of the throttle body.
I ended up buying a small peice of 2mm thick alloy tube, sliced it in half cause the diameter was too small. Added 2 small filler peices and welded it onto the throttle body.
I added a bead of weld to the end of it so it stops the chances of the hose coming off
    under boost.

Next up, cooler piping and mounting the radiator

Just wasn’t 100% sure about the history of the car. Wanted to check it all out to be sure, plus it had been sitting for a while. And I want to bump up the compression a bit as well. I thought the best way would be to replace the massive dish pistons that were in it. It had a iron head that I’m replacing as with a alloy. And I’m painting the car so it was coming out anyway.

If it was freshly rebuilt then why tear it down, you could of just swapped out the cam and lifters or was there something wrong with it?
Not having a go at you just checking what the reasoning behind it was

Yeah I've cleaned it multiple times to make certain every last particle has been washed out of it just wasn't sure on the mating surfaces but if its all good then I'll leave them like they are. I'll probably chuck it in mums dishwasher when she's not looking just to make sure everythings completely clean

That carby looks like a nice compact unit, seems much smaller physically than my Holley, could be the camera angles though

I'd start with the injectors then as mine was running a bit rough before I did them, check the intake track and exhaust system aswell
