xhadyboy reacted to SirkWhyXF in EL GT-P 18" Wheels on XE
As stated already they are BA gtp wheels, but being they came off an EL they are most likely aftermarket copies in the correct offset for pre AU vehicles. If not they are the original ford wheels in the wrong offset for falcons befor AU's an the EL was running spacers in which case if you grab the spacers and use them on the xe you will have no issues.
Stud pattern is the same on all falcons (excepts for the xp's back i think?) just the offset changed with the au.
Basically if they fit on an el they'll fit the xe. I've had dark argent typoon copies in pre au offset on my xf and ed.

Falcon wheels are generally referred to as being pre-au fitment and post-au fitment.
pre au is 0- +6, so the mounting face of the wheel is basically in the centre of the rims width. Post-au is +36, so the mounting face is 36mm closer to the outside edge of the rim.
All five stud Falcons are 5x114.3 pcd.

xhadyboy reacted to Mr Polson in Ford Registered Technician Bulletin - 34 ADM Weber Carb
Got these off my old man from his Ford dealership days. This one refers to the Weber 34 ADM Carburettor used on both 3.3L (200 cubic inch) and 4.1L (250 cubic inch) crossflows in the XE Falcon/Fairmont and ZK Fairlane. Possibly FD LTD if any of them were carby. Very similar to the carby used on XF models - some differences include no return line on carb, fuel bowl vent added, and EST additions in 86 with unleaded.

215/65 x 14 are the standard xd xe xf fitment size.
You should find this size pretty easy.

    As touched on already.
Drilled and slotted rotors are not high performance. They are for looks only. They will work fine on the street. For street duty with street pads. And probably fine for drag racing too. And the once a year trackday if you don't push em.

If you are road racing on dirt or tar you need a good rotor. Either flat or slotted. Slotted can cause early pad failure if you run hectic pads and don't bed in properly. Diameter helps with stopping where as thickness and ventilation type are for cooling. Curved vane been the better as it makes a more efficient "pump" to move air.

Don't get confused though. "High performance" in this context is not something required on the street unless you're driving like a fuckwit. (seriously, slow down)

A decent pad is all most people need.

I want to road race, intending on importing a willwood mustang big brake kit. It's a proper functional upgrade, not what the local kits usually are, just a big inappropriate rotor with low temp calipers and pads. This kit is for race. But it's not cheap at around 2500 dollarydoos.

Got the extractors fitted up to the 4.1 and a  new 2 1/2 system plumbed in ,sounds sweet .

Pulled  my 18 yr old son out from behind the fucking computer and he spent Saturday giving the XE some love.
Also fitted new plugs and changed the O.E.M orange Motorcraft leads for the first time since 1983, still the original leads on it .
The car only has 110 kms on the clock also put a Weber Ram flo air filter on .

Well what a difference now, the  car has always  struggled to get to 130 kmh. I didn't mind it being a slug cause he is only on L Plates, now it pulls to
150 kmh and I think it was just about done at 170kmh.

So Sunday we took it for a cruise down to Rare Spares in Roxburgh Park about 1/2 hour drive.
On the way back we had trouble getting gears in the 4 spd manual.

Popped the bonnet and sure enough the heat from the extractors made the old clutch cable stretch.
I  reckon the cable is the original one as well like the leads. It was at maximum adjustment anyway.

I see on the net it is not an uncommon  problem .
So  has anyone else wrapped the extractor's and possibly put a strip of heat sleeve insulation over the cable?
Or is the only way to fix it properly to change it to a hydraulic set-up?

I  read over on the other site this E.G.R does very little and as you said Dean its probably blocked with carbon.
We are trying to clean up the engine bay ,can I just take the E.G.R valve off completely and put a blank plate on the inlet manifold

I just got of the phone to them trying to track down the delivery.

I mentioned to him about the foam crumbling, he said they had issues 10 - 12 years ago.
With this new foam not one has been returned .

They said just use a good quality foam oil.
As he said, a can will out last the filter ,so penrite it is.

    Thanks for the advise lads.

I just picked up the rotors and pads .
    The rotors are R.D.A
The pads are Q.F.M ceramic premium.

There wasn't anyone that could get close to the price $ 107 all up , for a cash sale wood duck like me !
Fitting is $50 ,while I get my 10,000 km free tyre rotation done.

One brake place wanted $350 to machine 2 x rotors and fit  1 x set of new pads.

$157 supply and fit ... No brainer.

    Not sure where you live.
I just had my Turanzas replaced with Toyo's at Resevoir Tyrepower.
Set of 4 tyres and 4 wheel alignment $630.00.

I had my eyes set on the Turanzas given the life span.Best tyres ive had in 30 years of driving.

They had 3 for 4 offer going the month before  (March) but offered the toyo's to  me on the 17th April.  For the same deal.

I cant praise them enough. Honest knowledge, transparent, no bullshit. One of the owners is a petrol head.
The front end alignment is spot on.

Wagoon has offered his time and I'm happy to come and have a look as well. I'll be down in Brissy shortly to do the start up and tune on wagoon's roller cam donk and I am more than happy to lend a hand (no cost) if you need/ want it.
