Lord_fahrquhar got a reaction from gerg in The tyre clearance v's bump stop thread
It's when you go over the bump and then have to have a change of plan because you're looking at a tree or b double. That's in its most extreme. But if your chasing the car after it goes over a bump it's got bump steer issues.
It's measured by measuring deflection left or right as the suspension compresses. Adjustable height on the tie Rods allow to adjust this out as the steering linkage perceives an arc which causes the toe change during compression.

Both sound the shit. Those extractors look wilder than a stripper given a thousand bucks.

Lord_fahrquhar got a reaction from Banno in The tyre clearance v's bump stop thread
Yeah went back to lows instead of superlows for this reason. Our birds were never meant to be that low with factory hardware.
If only someone did wedge kits here in oz the story would be much better, as you could then clearance the bump stop area to maintain travel.
But then you need shock tower spacers etc.
Joys of old cars

Lord_fahrquhar got a reaction from SirkWhyXF in This is crap....... :(
Well afraid to say this but here goes:
Business (particularly corporations) are pathological in their intent. Business solely exists to deliver money to shareholders, and yeah if you get a batch of known shit, someone will inevitably do an analysis of keeping the junk and paying on warranty, vs junking it and getting quality ones.
This is a perfect example of this, diesel gate is another.
The only weapon you have against this shit is to complain like a bitch, constantly. Its easier for business, while the screw the silent majority.
Moral of the story: Doesn't pay to be nice, be a cunt.
This excludes small mom and dad style businesses - while they exist to turn a profit, there is a degree of morality to them missing from bigger concerns.

500 will still give a shove in the back.
Why go all mental over full huge cams which give a crappy idle and hammer the valve train?
Unless you wanna race it of course

Lord_fahrquhar got a reaction from slydog in Xd alloy head crossflow v Xf crossflow
Don't underestimate torque on the street. You can't literally drive anywhere at big revs and speeds, so why not go for something that pulls hard down low and through the mid range where you need it.
If you want to drag or race the car totally different story and a few threads on Thor and robs xf will help you there.

Mate let me know and Ill make a ph call then all you have to do is go introduce yourself. Deb Gary and Jake are all very approachable and normal like us all . Wouldn't be the first time I hooked a brother up.

Lord_fahrquhar reacted to slydog in 221 crank
No Grimmy is doesn't work. I looked into it and and understand what your thinking about but TBH by staying 250 cubes and giving it enough compression camshaft and induction it will make the needed HP without needing to be revved as hard as I have revved mine in the past.
Back to original topic, its easier to get your crank de-stroked but it still doesn't remove the harmonics induced by the oil pump drive and looooong crank and camshaft in a inline 6cyl. A change to crank trigger will help but I have to ask do you spit fly wheel's off your engine? If not if you ever move to a auto you should do so with a billit flex plate as weight seems to help these big shit box lumps.

Lord_fahrquhar got a reaction from Outback Jack in Is the crossflow dead???
Indeed. development is a lovely thing. No one would have thought 300 hp was possible from a red six either, but frankly its a fucking boat anchor compared to the crossy.
