Nothing to criticise with that fix. If it works it's good imo

hahahaha ok guys. Mark you are on the money. Like i said, we "fixed" the issue when we installed the blocks, i never told you how we did it mainly because i was a little weary of criticism

what we did (and i didnt take photos ) was relocate the pin in the block i installed on the driver's side of the car. See the blocks for the escort where 2 piece. the block was flat, with a large set screw with tapered was that was the pin, about 10mm heigh. So we removed the pin, and drilled and tapped a new hole off set to the guide hole on the lower side of the block. bob's your uncle it fixed it. we moved exactly the 10mm we needed to.

Why would an escort need s two piece shaft anyway? I don't think any of my mk2's had one, they were all one piece.

Get the tape measure out and measure the distance between the wheel centres on each side, it looks like a significant amount.

Maybe the body is out of whack? Although I'm sure rod would have picked up on that.

Those wheels would look awesome in a factory style silver.

Defective got a reaction from FOMOCOHO in FG with ZF transmission - cooler reliability ?
You can use a generic oil cooler, plenty have done it with the zf with zero issues. The zf sensitivity is a bit over stated imo.

Or the v8 still use the cooler in the radiator,,so maybe that could be fitted to a six? No idea how different the fittings are.

Pretty sure in the 'milkshake' thread on aff there is a few members that have used different coolers to that per setup quite successfully.

At $700 for the pwr setup, plus the service cost as well its not really cheap insurance. Zf's are cheap these days, granted not as cheap as btrs but not the 3-4K for a wrecker unit like they were.

Well today went well. i finished everything i needed to get it driving again.
all the brakes are in and working...the brakes are awesome in it haha, and they haven't even bed in yet obviously.

now, before i took this photo, i ran into some trouble...

    chop chop

    clearance issues.

so i lowered the car, and even with the 13s on, it was grabbing the front corner of the guard. silly design. when Ford released the Lotus Twin Cam Escort, they actually trimmed that corner off. so i had to do some massaging

vvv this is the final result of my home attempt of massaging the guard. Ill get them all rolled properly when its registered, especially if i want to fit the 15s on. I've also discovered that the 13s are actually 24mm oversized diameter, compared to the factory 12" tyre size. so that wouldn't be helping with clearance.

anyway, once i got that sorted i put it back in the garage on stands, hooked up the last of the brake hoses and and bled the brakes, then corrected the front end alignment so i could at least drive it (its going in for a front and rear end alignment tomorrow morning)

I seriously considered them. They look like a decent tyre and they make good sizes. I have Eagers and TA radials here and Eagers are extremely soft while TA radials are average. For the price I think Sumitomo is an excellent buy.

The rear set of TAs on the ZH set me back $600 fitted for 245/60/14s I think that's criminal. Can't believe they are as cheap as Hendrixhc said. Spot on you cant go wrong.

So has anyone used this brand before?

I need new tyres for my dragways and there isn't exactly a whole lot of choice out there.

Can get 245/50x14s for roughly $165 ea and 265/50x15s for about $200 on eBay, even with white writing. (Although boring looking writing)

    All 20mm.

I'd hate for you to blow money on something you may not need. Make sure you go over the thread I linked to determine if you actually NEED shock spacers.

If you do, No problem. Will you have issues?
If you jamming another 5mm (Strut brace) under the shock spacer I'm going to say yes. It will be VERY close to the bonnet, and the deflection in the upper shock mount bushes as you drive over bumps might be all it needs to wack a dint in your bonnet. In fact, I recommended anyone running these as is that they should check clearances, as there are small differences in manufacturing tolerances, shocks and bushes (rubber vs polyurethane), it might clear one bonnet on a setup but will hit the next (although i've had no reports of any bonnets been hit yet)
You can easily avoid this by cutting the top off your Shocky, when assembled. Only a couple mm above the nut, then cut a slot in the top with a 1mm blade on an angle grinder that you can put a large flatblade screw driver in to hold the top of the shock still when removing/installing.

Go for a drive without your bonnet on and watch your shocky, you'll see how much they move when going over bumps. Plus driving without a bonnet is badass.

I haven't had to do it, but I think it's the rear mounts, closest to the trans tunnel.

    So a small update.

I ordered my electronic dizzy, and it was on my door step the next day. free over night express post from QLD to melbourne. pretty happy with that

Ive installed the new ignition system, and wow. starts and runs perfect. doesn't need choke to start when its cold, and now that the timing is all back to the correct setting, it actually has ok power for a 1300. and sounds cool can't wait to get my 32/36 weber on they sound grouse with a bit of induction noise.

I'm heading back up there today, so hopefully the ignition system will prove its worth, and start first turn of the key after sitting for a couple days.

If it were me, I'd try and buy the whole Panelvan.
An April 99 XH panno, is the cream of the crop IMO.

Factory Hybrid OHC, Central Locking, Tubliner, Silver Sunraysia wheels.
As new as you'll ever get, in a Falcon panelvan.

Aaaand, now have a recon unit in my pano, what a difference! Still need to get wheel alignment done but it actually points where I aim it now, and doesn't wander half a lane on the motorway anymore.
Just gotta drop the rear down,,roll, the guards and get wheel alignment done and thats the suspension done for a while.
    Interior next.
