Yeah I'll just go to my money tree out back and buy that haha.

Hey Stu if it has chev rods can you put a chev badge on it? Probably more chev parts than an sv6.

Your mate is a wise man... More so than myself. I would have bought it out of stubbornness and continued with the shitfight until the bitter end.

Cheers jack. You never know if you never go.
I'd hate to have not gone & forever question did i miss out on something good.
Sometimes it takes abit of effort to find some good gear out there.
I almost bought it because I was there with the trailer & didn't want to go back empty.
Lucky for me I went with a mate who has walked around on this earth a few more years than me.
He simply said " look at this mess & honestly tell me what you can gain from it. Your only going to get this mess because you dragged a car trailer for 3 hours. " sometimes you can't beat the insight of age & experience & learning from my mates previous mistakes.

So the 378 was a complete fizz.
Drove nearly 3 hours with the car trailer to find a completely rusted out XD Fairmont. (That's ok, I was expecting that ). Not one piece of the vehicle was salvageable.
Under the bonnet was a bog stock clevo that had standard thermoquad carby, standard inlet, a set of 2v heads ( reciept for reco 8 years ago. )
Standard valve train & valve springs.
The auto oil was burnt & had bits of metal on the dip stick.
The engine wasn't seized, but it had blown the bottom hose at some point in spectacular fashion.
It was on his oldmans property & according to the owner of the car it went really hard ( he reckons he drove it ) & was a 378 because the old owner told him it was. His oldman told me that it arived on a trailer one day & he never even heard it fire up.
It was a shame to see the case so far gone, because it was a matching numbers Fairmont with a set of log books in the glove box. The car must have been loved at some point in time, but too far gone to save. I'm sure the plastic was starting to rust!

Probably just unburnt fuel banging (exploding) in the pipes.  Pretty common on deceleration.  Even V8 contrived bullshit, I mean v8 supercars do it.  Go to any event and you will here it on the gear cut.  Watch it on telly and you will see the flames and shit out the exhaust.

Its just unburnt combustible material suddenly combusting when it hits hot stuff.  You shut off the throttle but the engine still pumps the stuff for a bit and then bam it ignites in the pipes.  Especially when you have no mufflers or you burn all the glass out of a packed muffler.

If that is what it is, then its not bad.  But if you have a header crack or something else then that can lead to bad, i.e. burnt exhaust valves etc etc.

You can take this to court and if it's all from the same cop you can claim harassment. I know of interstate truck drivers that have been targeted by certain cops and after a few fines they take them to court and they get all their fines back. When the court looks at the cop's fine book and it's clear that they are targeting one person the cop gets a nice talking to from the judge and all the fines are thrown out.
Can't guarantee it will come out in your favour but I know of 4 guys that have done this and have won, although the cases where pretty obvious that they were being targeted

I rang and spoke to one of the techs at King springs around a couple of weeks ago . During the conversation the guy mentioned that normal king springs (Low's, SL, SSL etc)  are 510lb but he did not mention if that's for all the different heights or a specific height. So that makes the above setting of the XYZ coilovers interesting, but I would want to know what ride height was required to make them 700lb.
That spring wrap tells me that the springs touch at that point so it's relying on the lower section of the spring to achieve the higher spring rate. The only problem with them taking so long to get to the higher spring rate is you are much closer to the bump stops if not touching them already which makes the higher rating redundant as the car can't pass the bump stop height. If you were game you could remove the bump stops but your shocks might bottom out before the spring firms up enough to stop it laying over. There is also ball joint bind and possibly other things binding when at no bump stop height.

Again not putting shit on these coilovers just pointing out stuff. Still think they are a good option for someone wanting to get the ride height just right or if you need to replace springs, shocks and spring saddles.

Cheers mate - she is far from pretty but I like her.  Full drag spec so no interior, no headlights the works.  Changed the fuel pump and line and the triples fired into lift like it had never stopped.

The day I picked her up after 12 years of sitting up in the dry country on the tablelands. Ran at Townsville many many years ago and by all accounts was very fast. Triple weber crossflow power and toploader - true 80's cool and yes those rear guards are pumped.

I had a 69 dodge ambulance. No belts.
Nothing like having an accident and clinging to the steering wheel like a spider monkey to stop yaself getting splatted on the stupidly thick windscreen.
