check out mine were done, loads easier and not mods to diff or top mounts needed

The bottom eyelets bolt straight upto the original shocker mount location with spacers each side to centre em.
The top have a bracket  around the eylet and a bolt going upwards.

There is nothing wrong with a twin A arm suspension set up.  Yes is it old tech but remember a few years ago in V8's when the crapadores wanted the ford Twin A set up (and got it).  They wouldn't be screaming for it if it didn't work.

The xf is a seriously good car to punt around at speed when set up for it.  One of the fastest cars in Mod Prods atm is an XF Falcon.  He is up against all the modern IRS big HP cars, but the big XF keeps on winning.  And I am talking Big $$$ shows - not country track feature wins.

Many years ago I spent 6 weeks at a driver training facility in Brisbane (Mt.Cotton).  We had an old XF, a VL turbo, first series EA and VN commodore - yes it was that long ago.  The easiest car to control around the skid pad was the XF. Everyone agreed, there were 26 students and 4 instructors.   Even when they fitted the bald tyres, put down the diesel and turned the sprinklers onto the track - the only car everyone could punt around in a continuous slide was the XF.

That day was one of the best days I have spent in a car and the memory of how the bog stock XF drove stayed with me for a long time. How long.  Well 18 years later when I wanted to go speedway racing - my weapon of choice - the trusty old XF.

I would be giving the dampening a tweak to the firmer side just to see if it takes out a fraction of the roll and improves the feel, but really with a 650lb spring it is never going to corner like a race car.  It will however be a very good compromise for a spirited road car.

Complete unit including custom top spring locator/mount. I drill out the spot welds on the factory waffle locator and use the holes to bolt these on.

Without the spring on so you can see the Bilstein shock and alloy threaded coil over adjuster. Note how the alloy threaded body is cut out so it locates on the factory spring saddle and the bottom of the shock body. This stops it from turning

Because I (and most other speedway guys) am anal about reducing front weight I cut the ends off the factory spring saddle mount. They are not needed so off they go. Its only a small amount of weight but 100 of these small things add up.

HA! like the ones in my profile pic ha!    You can do that Outback but you get the speed boat effect and sounds weird on a car! I think you get better scavenging effects from the Chi heads and the 4into1s if you run a cross over or using a Y, But your right it would be LOUD and better then the Lukey and still bogey! lol!!!

Can you hear like a suction type noise just above the sweet roar!  I guess that would be the noise from the restriction of the 3" single!

Makes me want to rip my redback muffler out and jump on it...... lol.

Just an idea.... how about for the track drop the exhaust at the two flanges and run straight side pipes one out each side.... can hot dog em if too loud, bet that will get up and bogey.
Sounds so much better that street set up witj lukey.

I love big singles on V8's but that's not everyone's cup of tea so a big dual system with a quality x-pipe is the other option.  You need to think about compression ratio and the new size of the engine when you are designing this system.  In my experience general exhaust shops have no clue on system design - they just fit what kits they have on hand and call it a sports exhaust.  Collector length and size can be maximised to suit the application as can muffler choice.  I love the hooker aero chambers but there are other brands out there with similar design that sound great.  add a moroso spiral flow resonator at the very back near the rear 1/4's and you will have a sweet sound - not to loud.  noise does not always equal power.

Vizard has a great article on 'no loss' exhaust systems and it is a great resource.  not sure if it is still available on the net but a google search should sort that out, if not I have a hard copy here.

My personal preference would be a system that exits past the bumper and not dumped.  I like having the sound exit out the back so that you get to hear the engine and not the drone, but again we are all different.

This is my set up for the streets!  3" Mandrel bent pipes from the headers right though to tail the pipe, twin into single Y piece, 1 big Lukey muffler before the diff. $700 bucks the lot installed!!

    The Redback muffler!

Sounds great at idle and good when ya keep the revs low but when I get up her it gives resonating buzz which is a little annoying, but no drone!   The sound changes when I go from my Shaker to air cleaners (which is crazy but true), unfortunately it has better sound without the Shaker on.  The first muffler was a red back straight though and it was horrible!(pic above) The Lukey improved it a fair bit but still has that slight resonating buzz, and it restricted a bit of power! I still I ran 388 rwhp on the dyno with this exhaust!

So that's my street set up but now I'm going to build a side pipe for racing so that will be interesting!  I'm going to kick a 3" pipe after the Y piece (so I don't need to invest in a crossover) out to the side of the car under the passenger back door with a straight through muffler of some type, and set it up both systems so I can bolt and unbolt them for what i'm using the car for.

With the redback muffler and not tuned up!

And with the with the Lukey muffler and tuned up but not dyno tuned!

Twin 2.5" with Hooker aerochambers (nice deep note) and 2.5" twin tail pipes should be alright.

Check the regs surrounding side exiting exhausts. Some don't allow them as it directs exhaust at other drivers and officials. Me, I'd run the exhaust back to the factory location with 2 hooker aero chambers. I'd flange and support the outlet and run a turn down tip at the track and then have an over the diff section with 2 moroso spiral flow mufflers in the rear 1/4 area for the street.

From memory those Lukey mufflers are a packed glass muffler with a perforated core and sometimes they have an s section. They are rather crap for performance applications. I good chamber muffler like the aero chamber or mangnaflow will shit all over them for sound quality and performance.

Hi everyone!  When we bought this car it had I bit of damage on the rear wheel arch!  The bloke who owned the car before us got side swiped.  He bought a new front guard and purchased the front door, mirrors and chrome strip from me.  He striped it all down then painted the panels and reassemble it all.  He thought after his operation he would take it to the panel beaters to finish of the rear quarter panel.  Unfortunately he died on the operating table and never got to finish fixing his pride and joy.  When I bought the car I made a promise to his wife that he left behind, I would get the car fixed and back to its former glory.

So I took the beast to a good friend of mine who owns a restoration work shop called Fully Steeled Restorations! https://www.facebook.com/fully.restorations?fref=ts

The damage!  I took these pics the second time I viewed the car!
