the 400 3 bolt mount is a little different to the 460 but in saying that yesterdays research did uncover someone posting contact CRS for 400 mounts ,could be they just make the top plate to suit a 400 bolt pattern ,just for the hell of it i might call them tomorrow to find this out as it could be a make it as you need it part ?

hehe few around Vic on facebook, Saw 400M with big block Bell patten for $1600 (South central vic,) was like Hmm,
also saw a 521 stroker short block near (Shepparton Vic) for $5500, (listed as 532 but is only 0.030" over)
460 short or block (can't remember) in Melbourne $1400,
isn't the 3 bolt engine mount patten on the 351/400M just the big block patten? EG> CRS big block mount

Cork gaskets needs dowel pins added (some small nails will work) when I brought my V8 ute front cork was pushed out & later after my 3rd intake swap pushed the rear valley cork out (no pins), went with Felpro pan kit again after that,
Felpro intake valley pan kit comes with nice rubber valley gaskets with moulded dowels, smear with RTV, & blob RTV at either ends near heads works well.
But most these days will just run a thick bead of RTV.
    (Felpro in pic)

I think D head is close to C2 in chamber CC's anyway, My 89 XF ute original engine has D head & 84DA intake,

8565 bolt kit is for bolting the inlet manifold down, suits 7564 air gap.
The 3/8"? bolts should work just the 5/16" might not be long enough for the 2750 performer on one side,
BUT a 2750 2v performer also comes with 2x 5/16" bolts & a plate to block off the choke stove hole...

Yes fordman, very true and I forgot to mention this important aspect. I discovered that even a V8 in a wagon has resonant issues that utes and sedans don't, due to the extended cabin area being right over the exhaust outlet with no buffer area like a boot, rear seat or bulkhead to absorb the sound
Btw, that's a snappy donk you have there. Hope you get it sorted to run in its prime. I'm predicting mid 14s with the right converter, sharp C4 and hooking up nice

@gerg Tho Wagons are bad for exhaust resonating through the car, Bros XE wagon has is bad for it,
My bros wagon has same exhaust as on my XF ute (minius cat) no drone on XF but really drones through the wagon when on the highway.

My XF utes exhaust sound didn't change much to when I changed from stock manifold & cat, to extractors & hi flow cat with same cat back exhaust,
The exhaust did really change with my new engine tho, became louder & bigger cam makes for a nice idle note,
Pacemakers, 100 cell cat, all 2.5'' (for now) with  Hooker Aerochamber muffler, (3" tip). Videos is some footage I found on my camera, could be from before it was tuned from the hi idle,

I've changed intakes a few times on mine, spread bore to AFD hi-rise, to factory square bore, To AFD hi-rise to factory square bore (yes twice) & finally performer,
I've only ever removed dissy cap & leads, then just the intake.

an alternative to wet&dry to smooth the deck is a combonation stone, I recently brought my bro a new one for work (mechanic),
I get them cheaper through my work, Norton/Bear large (230mmx80mm) silicon carbide stone.

    84DA block is one piece rear main, (92mm x108mm x9.5mm), 86DA 95mm x110mm x 10mm, Yeah nearly like someone put a 84DA crank in a 86DA block
one way of comparing cranks is flywheel/flexplate bolts, 84DA crank will be 7/16" UNF, 86DA being M10x1.25.

    Found a Volvo rear main 92mm x110mm x10mm

I'd look towards the Quickfuel range for better range of tuning options, I've got a QFT Slayer 600 Vac sec VSF on my xflow,
over the Holley has changeable air bleeds, rear jets & billet rear mettering plate, Vac sec progression is adjustable buy a screw, compared to likes of the 1850 of holley
I think Holley also shared Quickfuels features the Brawler range of carbs.

Okay so I ended up with 30-thou ring end gaps due to pre-gapped rings but what the hell, thats way better than the 120+ I had to start with, and with 11:1, worked heads, camshaft and possible nitrous use thats probably not a bad place to be.

The whole shortblock is together and torqued to spec with new bearings and oil pump, the sump/timing set/water pump go on next and then I'll chuck it back in the truck before I put heads on it.

Between the CA & O is a blade screw head that holds the plate into the casting mound, don't really mean anything most australian clevelands had have it,
the 8K3 is the casting date, 1978 Oct 3

Cover whire wheeled, camshaft and timing set out.

This thing definitely had love in the distant past - the camshaft is a Crane grind (230@50 / 530 lift) and all the cam bearings are mint. The head gaskets came off dead flat and looking like they're out of a packet. The more I strip stuff off this the better it gets. Figners crossed for the crank and rods.

Ah yeah, I got the heads back as well. Hot tanked, acid bathed, hardened seats all round with a mild throat cut plus a valve job, new seals & mild performance springs. Nice.
