Stevemack got a reaction from Thom in Painting of racecar
Some progress this week, finally got some colour on it, just the body kit and bumpers to go.
Spent too long trying to make it super smooth, then came to the realisation that it's a race car! It'll probably get a couple of dings and scratches first time out anyway.
It's very very green, but not to fear Stick This decals is hooking me up with some funky bonnet and side styling, should have them next week!

Stevemack got a reaction from deankxf in Painting of racecar
So it's been a while since I started doing some work on the race car, lots been happening but got back into it over Christmas.
Now you may remember that I had decided to go with the Peter Jackson colours.......well this happened.
I know it looks as if it's going to be a greens tuf lookalike but it's not, it is going to be a retro throwback though.
Painting happening now stay tuned.

Stevemack reacted to revhead in Troubles 2k painting plastic XD mirrors
rattle cans ,a total waste of time, as the shit in them fades , rub mirror back flat ,if the area is new give it a dust of 1k plastic primer, its a clear undercoat, let it dry then dust on your colour, 3 lite lite dry coat ,wait a full five minutes, give it another coat a little wetter then wait 20mins .before giving it a final coat of clear etc ,only use 2 pak colours as acryilic painting system is old out dated rubbish ,yes i know there are die hard acrylic paint fans on here ,but honestly you need to use 2 pak , easier to use ,drys faster n harder and no buffing .

Stevemack reacted to revhead in Panel blocking rub throughs help needed
generally when i rub through i mix up a wet mix of primer filler and just give it a light coat just before i paint the colour
also when rubbing with any block remember to stay away from folds or body lines and edges, only use the block on flat areas

Stevemack got a reaction from Lott in Gra onto ea centre point manifold.
GRA are way better than anything else on the market IMO, had one for 14 years, you need to get it tuned properly (metering rod machined) about once every 4 years, but otherwise you never have to put a spanner on them! Instant power, impcos i have found can get flat spots and need regular adjsutments to keep them at their optimum. Go GRA mate, you won't look back.

Stevemack reacted to bear351c in Main cap parting face damage
All good mate. Make sure the 'dented' bit is sitting flush, or lower, as this will affect bearing crush. Make sure you get all those metal filings out, too!

Stevemack reacted to tpak addict in 302c won't start
What you need is a mate.....
Remove number 1 plug....
Get said mate to stick his finger in the hole...... of number 1
turn engine over by hand.... Very important
when on comression stroke should hear a hiss emitting from said finger
line up timing mark to number 1 on pulley

Stevemack reacted to bear351c in Paint Stripping the chemical way
Agreed. I've used the Motorspray stuff, and it works better when scuffed up, I used an old screwdriver on my bonnet, 'cos it had 3 different layers of paint on it.! Quite therapeutic goughing a bonnet with a screwdriver, for some strange reason.

Stevemack reacted to deankxf in WARNING - AFTERMARKET BALL JOINTS - DANGER!
well i have made a quick drawing using the pics to make it explainable if you take it into repco or bursons etc..
might be half the reason the cheapshit ones wear out faster even?
i wonder if the aftermarket control arms rectify this issue, the shelby drop is meant to help i think too?
