Great comparison in that second picture. What are the flow figures for it now?

Obviously a true hi port with great big holes. But its whats needed on my combo.

Maybe measure again. Unless it has had a fair wack tacken off of the gasket surface, it will be more than 45cc.

Used to be a C1 C2 or D head, thats had the chamber machined to a open chamber. Seen a few on the forums/facebook,
was done to fit later heads to earlier xflows so it wouldn't raise compression too high,
XD/XE engine with a C2/D head would be close to 11:1 otherwise.

Seeing the high port head thread made me & CNC xflow head porters made me remember this, Copied from CHI's facebook page a few years ago

Possible: Yes (Cleveland style bolt-on rockers)
    Performance: no
    Economy: no

Stock rockers are fine for stock or mild engines, just use a good quality zinc oil or a moly additive to prevent wear in the pivot over a long period.

Roller rockers are mechanical insurance for a modified valvetrain ie: bigger cam, stiffer valve springs, higher rpm. With the greater forces involved with all of these aspects, the roller pivot and tip reduce friction and wear. The oil stays cleaner due to reduced shearing/breakdown.

If you ever do go down that path, don't skimp on the quality. Lots of tiny hardened needle rollers floating around your engine is what we call a "Chernobyl" in the trade.

If I just wanted a nice hop-up without going silly, I'd leave the cam there. The factory specs are actually pretty decent for a silly stocker; lots of numbers bouncing around but 214/210 @ 0.050" is what I can find on the later (post 88) engines. That's what cam companies would class as between a stage 2 or 3 cam in the old days.

If I wanted to chase a bit of power, I'd focus on the heads. A port job/bigger valves or GT40Ps will wake it up, and 1.7 rockers with good valve springs will help too.

Replace the timing set as it's probably worn and might be retarded from factory (Thom?)

Try and play Gary Myers with a 302efi, and this is prolly what would happen -

Yeah mate. JB in Ayr does CNC as do AED, I think that's who did FORD MAN's.  There are obviously several other hand porters also doing them of which Cam, who does my stuff and did Luke's head is one.  The flow results I post in the porting thread are the results of Cams work, flowed on an independent flow bench.
Sean (clevo 120y) was doing them, but I believe he sold his bench.  Rob is using LHT race engines as noted in his thread. Jason Murphy in Toowoomba has also played with them with some success. At the end of the day there are a few choices mate. Obviously none of them are going to be cheap.  But cheap and fast very rarely go together.

Haha. I would prefer to question nothing (so long as there is nothing dishonest happening) and just acknowledge that they are fast.

Oh no, here comes the 'what is a true street car' arguement. Oh no.
Fact is Glen's, Ken's and Jason's cars aren't / weren't registered street cars. They are however fast. These days with the hoon laws and driving an illegally modified car on the street(one without all relevant mod plates and engineering certification) is fraught with danger. Especially in Qld.
I've been jumping through some big hoops with the engineering on my corty, but at the end of the day it will carry all the necessary mod plates and certificates to make it road legal. It's not a cheap excercise but it's worth it in the long run. But it will still be a light car, cause in my racing experience a light car with weight innthe right areas is a fast car.
Chestnut old son - do what you want with your car. And if you want to develop a high port head - go for it.  I was just highlighting that it's not necessary.

It is a light, and why would you care? It should be light. It is a race car. Obviously, it helps it be fast. It is still fast.
Do people get pissy with racers calling their car a full weight street car when they are running race full and the car is clearly not roadworthy (legally)?

There is a video of the car running at Willowbank on my business Facebook page,  Tonys Metal and Speed.
Luke races Pro Stock Motorcyle. He is accomplished racer. I doubt he will be letting on to anyone the actual weight of the car. And good on him. Fact is it's fast and will get faster.  I don't know too many go karts that weigh a tonne.

If you contact any of the decent convertor companies around with all your data, car weight, dyno graph showing both torque and hp and answer some questions honestly on application they should be able to build a convertor to suit YOUR engines needs and your person needs.
Pits a black art, best left to the experts in my opinion. Not the old 'such and such runs a 4500'.

I doubt it, but yeah a straighter port must be of benifit. Do you have examples of the Cleveland heads that have been chopped to achieve this?

Exactly, the big filler hose gets a simple plumb into it ,and the return squirts in there.
(nothing to do with the tank venting /charcoal system)
the complex part for me atm is working out what air cleaner system to run, and how I’d like this motor to look, I like the idea of a blow thru style carb hat connected to a k&N pod or cold air box, but a nice air filter looks good too...and to be making sure I’ve got the right dizzy and Holley connector with plugs and leads to run programable ingnition.. it’s recomended to just do the 4 wire hook up first.. so a lot of guys don’t run the ignition side of Sniper EFi I noticed..( if not controlling timing, that’s a simple 4 wire hook up)

and whats up with everybody bagging REDLINE??! This is a good little Aussie company success story.. who has supported the crossflow motor and others, and I’m happy to have there products on my old car..changing to any manifold is not going to net much on a street motor, the efi should atomise better than a  40yo old carb.
