After the engine came out today i had enough time to just give a mild cleanup and take the old 6 cyl engine plates off the chassis, tomorrow will do a major clean and prep for monday or tuesday heart transplant with the clevo.

Free.51 got a reaction from Ants in Painting front bumper
I basically just followed ants instructions & sprayed it with flexi primer which is for plastics before using grey primer. I was just gonna clear coat it after all the colour is done.

Free.51 got a reaction from sam0044 in Ltd wheels refurbished
Thanx for the replays guys, I spoke to Steve from Steves wheels in sunshine (round the corner from me) he said he'll do the 4 wheels & centre caps for $400 + $80 to remove & replace my tyres & balance them so I'm looking forward to getting them done in the next couple of weeks.

You need to prime it for sure.
Run some plastic adhesive primer over it first, the some primer filler over it,if it fluffs up,give it a sand with some 320 between coats.
If you are painting it in solid 2k 320 is as course as I would recommend (i finish with 400 wet myself ) if it's a metallic I finish with 800 wet.

Free.51 got a reaction from bear351c in Fitting Extractors
I don't think I had any problems fitting the drivers side extractor on my clevo which has 4 into 1 genies, only issue was I had to jack the front end up pretty high for clearance so I could manoeuvre the extractor into place & so the flange at the end wouldn't scrape on the ground.

I agree with Stu, the inspection plate is just there to keep the bellhousing clean from outside contaminants.

As far as I know, it's just to keep contaminants out of the bellhousing.
Back in the 79' repco trail, one of the works cortinas was in a good position until the clutch started slipping. When Colin bond crawled under to have a look, there was no sandwich plate & it had filled the bellhousing with sand, mud, etc.
He says to Murray carter, " where's the sandwich plate, the clutch is full of sand ".
Murray carter replys " I never fit those to my race cars "!! It was never an issue, cause Murray was a circuit racer, not a rally driver.
