I think Mcfly needs to read this thread. A powerful motor with 178rwkw cost less than $500.
    Thom, you the man

I'd be surprised if the dizzy, was the cause of the issue.
It's just a hall effect sensor/TFI, with E-series, they pretty much operate independently of the ECU. (with the exception of EF's, and AU onwards)
The ECU has control of the SPOUT wire, which retards timing by about 10degrees, when de-energised I believe.

The SPOUT wire can be disconnected on USA made EEC vehicles, to set the timing.
On our Aussie EEC vehicles, they only allow an electronic disconnection via putting the ECU into diagnostic mode, to set timing.

From memory, XH/EL's need a 0 degrees BTDC base timing setting.
The EA-ED's need 10 degrees BTDC.
(in diag mode - ie, SPOUT disconnected)

Wow.......  definitely sounds like your timing is out. If you buy a new kit, it should come with new gears and chain. Replace the lot.
Can't help you with the hybrid side of things. Maybe @Thom ?

Yep, Thom is the OHC mechanical guru.

I would prolly get a replacement timing chain set, if things are mismatched?
(unless the vehicle has a hybrid engine.) 🤔

That 'slow at lower revs, then goes well' could be a stuck/non-functional BBM?
Make sure the broadband manifold butterflies/actuator is working.

if it has an au timing gear, put the engine on tdc no 1 (use a bit of wire down the spark plug hole to find tdc don't trust the balancer is correct), on the timing gear you will see a line on one side and a dot on the other line the line up parallel with the rocker rail on the drivers side of the car, if it's an e series gear it will just have a line and no dot, it its e an series gear line it up with the rocker rail on the passenger side of the head, make sure you turn the engine over at least twice with a ratchet or breaker bar before you hit the starter just in case something is still out of whack, you don't want to break any valves or rocker gear

Well said Thom & Ryan...Longer dwell time @ TDC for a more complete burn and piston speed. But all this ONLY works if the cyl head is up to it and it has enough compression and camshaft to match.

So if you NEED to go the 200 rod the CP kit is for you or a Wiesco/Scatt combo but you spend the same amount either way. That said the Wiseco piston is the best (ask Mossy what they can take year after year) of the lot and the Scatt rod comes with a 2000 series 7/16th bolt that take ALOT more than the 5/16th units.

Carby fuel pumps are so exxy. Mine is $110 for a walbro EFI pump that will supply 50% more than my estimated fuel demand on e100 at rated pressure (60GPH). Only estimating it for 220wheel HP though.

Edit: SAE J30R9 and SAE J30R10 spec hoses will withstand e85. The R10 is for use inside the fuel tank. PTFE braided line as a replacement for the steel hardline should be good too.

E85 will require a fair bit of stuffing around. E85 eats normal o'rings etc so you would have to replace everything rubber in the system with E85 compatible stuff.  Unless it's LPG only forget it. Stick with old 91 unless you have some mods in mind.

And there lies the single biggest issue with 99% of X-flow owners. Most want $10,000 performance for $10.It just doesn't work that way.I know there basically a old tractor luggin snot box of a thing but performance parts cost money and alot are custom made or a "found" item from another brand or make that just happens to work.

I have a custom girdle custom pan, custom stud kit, custom guide plates custom pipes and the list goe's on and on.If it was a SS they would not think twice about dropping $4000 on a set of wheels and another $4000 on a stereo but god dam if they will spend $400 on a manifold?

We need to get people out of that way of thinking and accept if we want to go fast we have spend money on needed parts even if it is just a old tractor engine.
