XDoug 2 Posted September 7, 2013 Can some one put me on the right track where the best spot to bolt on the lifting brackets so as to remove engine and gearbox together with out to much swing down at the gear box end, or some tips.

hendrixhc 10,921 Posted September 7, 2013 Engine levellers are good to use as well. that way you can angle the load on the fly as you need to. 1 Trev Vaa reacted to this
Thom 6,654 Posted September 7, 2013 The factory lifting hooks that bolt to the exhaust manifolds usually do a pretty good job anytime I pulled the clevo and c10 put of the Cuzzo 2 revhead and Stevemack reacted to this
revhead 1,392 Posted September 7, 2013 no one chain left to right ,or right to left choice is yours, lol try to angle the motor and box back alittle to make it come out easier
n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted September 7, 2013 Do people trust them lift plates that bolt down onto the carby flange? They seem like they would be scary as hell with 4 3/8th bolts into an alloy manifold, but every car builder on tv uses them loading on big blocks with autos on the back of them. 1 bear351c reacted to this
blackxt 699 Posted September 8, 2013 Yeah there fine. I've put heaps of motors in with them . Don't scratch any thing ethier Sent from my XT925 using Tapatalk 2 1 slydog reacted to this
bear351c 10,273 Posted September 8, 2013 I'm with you, nOObus, looks scary. BUt, if dudes have used them, (like you blackxt) with no issues, then I guess they work. I use a couple of old seat belts tied with a double granny knot....... Seriously, chains on the heads, or fabric slings around the sump, and a chain block/engine crane. Much better with a mate helping. Jack up engine then slowly push car out the way. Dont forget plastic bag tied on trans housing, cos gearbox oil smells like ass. 1 Stevemack reacted to this
XDoug 2 Posted September 8, 2013 Haah ha, yeah mate, don't want shed smelling like ass. Thanks for pointers fellas. 1 revhead reacted to this
Trev Vaa 1,185 Posted September 9, 2013 i've used the carby flange type and i've got made up hooks that bolt onto the exhaust port on the head so i can have one strap on each corner, use a load leveler, makes the job 10x easier. i usually pull the box out under the car if it's an easy job (which it usually is) and just leave the bellhousing etc attached, gives you more room in a tight situation and saves you from worrying about gearbox oil on the ground. SJG351 6 Posted October 6, 2013 I can get my clevo/fmx combo in and out of the TD corty with a load leveler, goto get it on a massive angle but no problems, i made 4 small steel plates out of 8mm flat bar that bolt to the front and rear of each head and clear the carb dizzy ect.. works great! Stevemack 122 Posted October 7, 2013 The original plates work the best if you've got them, the front holes are for engine only, the rears for engine and trans, they work really well. If you haven't got any get some and fit them before the engine goes back in.
Boss351 4 Posted March 19, 2014 Like said above, front of one head, back of the other. I put a couple of small bolts through the chain either side of the engine crane hook to stop the chain sliding through when it's on a big angle, and put an old slip yoke in the back if the box to plug it if you have one lying around.
