im gunna get new arp rod bolts and have them fitted later on,and he also marks the rod with a x for some reason,i think its got to do with what way the piston faces ? maybe gerg knows.

It could be an earlier model vs late model thread (5/8 vs 16mm) on either the hose or the pump.

If it's the same centre as my TF corty, no they're not that strong. I think they're a 6.8" crown and were also used in Aussie Sigmas in the day. While I didn't blow mine, it wore out much more quickly than it would if it was a 75 or 78 (which came in the TE), probably not helped by being behind a 250 crossy. It just had heaps of backlash in the gears, mostly in the spiders. Was a 2.78 ratio.

I love the holley sniper we put on dads clevo, the only downside I've seen is they can be rather finniky with dual plane intakes

Year of the block will be cast into a small pad behind the starter, on the block. Almost impossible to see with the starter in place.  Will say something like 7H12, or similar.
So, 1967  for the first number, H is August, 12th day.

My brothers TE cortina had a falcon LSD fitted to it, (both were 2.92 ratios) 25 spline cortina axles fitted straight into it.
he had a 4cyl cortina diff in it for a while with 3.77 ratio (welded center) that broke an axle but didn't die with the mild (supposedly speedway spec) 250 crossy.

A few things to consider, converting an efi 5.0 to carb is exceptionally easy, its everything else that will give you headaches, any carb intake and non ecu controlled distributor is all you need and the engine will run like it was born that way.
Here's the list of obstacles you will have to overcome depending on how much of the 5.0 stuff you want to use

Fuel pump/ timing cover front accessories:

If you want to run a mechanical fuel pump you will have to change to an earlier timing cover with a fuel pump boss and you will have to fit a fuel pump eccentric to the cam, this will also mean you have to change to an earlier waterpump as the 5.0 ones spin the opposite direction, alternator, p/s and a/c (depending on what your using) will all have to be v belt style and brackets as the serpentine set up won't work with an early timing cover, you may have to source a different balancer depending on what pulleys you need, it is very important to a 58ounce balancer and flywheel with a roller 5.0 a balancer to suit an early 302/289/260/221 will cause massive vibrations and possibly break the crank, if you want to use the serpentine setup you will have to use an electric fuel pump

The trans you have if its from a falcon is an Australian only btr 4 speed auto and is a very different unit from the aod and aode's the us 5.0l used, these btr's are an electronic controlled auto and very difficult to set-up to run as a normal auto without using the engine ecu to talk to the trans tcu, I know shiftkits Australia make a standalone controller to suit btr's but as far as I'm aware they only have a manual shift option they can't be put into drive and shift themselves any more, c4 or c10 can be used behind the 5.0 and if you use a Cleveland c10 the holes in the flex plate are in the correct location for a Cleveland torque converter, if you use a Windsor converter you will need an aftermarket 58ounce flex plate to couple everything up (another thing to consider is the btr has a left hand starter and off the shelf headers don't clear it)

As far as the factory heads go gt40p's are the best iron head but the relocated spark plug means most off the shelf headers don't fit and stock cast iron manifolds don't fit these heads either, you don't want to use the stock 5.0 headers as they are garbage and flow worse than the cast iron manifolds early windsors had

How do they go with adapting 351W stroker cranks to these blocks? Same bearing size, the only difference I think is something to do with the snout where the timing gear goes?

Could that be an old Accel? US Fords would have had a Motorcraft coil, Aussie ones Bosch.

Oh look the standard brakes were up the task once upon a time.
And I know Ive "over braked" it now.
but nowadays parts are hard to get for the P16 brakes, and expensive compared to what I paid for this entire brake upgrade kit. the discs alone new, are more than 1/3 of the cost of the entire brand new brake upgrade.

The way i see it, i would always rather have plenty in reserve than on the limit.

As i said above, it will get driven spiritedly on plenty of twist roads. We are not far from plenty of mountain roads, big hills. I have previously run the car out of brakes on those roads.

I have always wanted to get the car on the track, just to stretch its legs legally. Ive always been hesitant because of killing the 1300 haha.

So, I am happy with the brakes.

As for the race, you will have to drive to Melbourne first. Your premier will never let us in, so you can come here instead 🤣

That's right, forgot about Dearborn. So that's at least 4 casting plants they had back then... Windsor is straight across the river from Dearborn, but in Canada.

For me with the brakes which I did with my car, u are spending the time to do it do the finer details.

Pull the back brakes lines off a EF/EL including the t block which bolts to the floor, then drill the brackets that hold the flex hoses to the chassis off.

To make the the t block to work on ur xf half along the tunnel should be a joiner undo and take to a brake place and get to put the correct flare nut to go into the t block (sorry mind gone blank can't remember the number of nut), weld the flex hose brackets on then it's set up the same way as EF/EL in all of this aspect.

With handbrake cable, mine was setup with a wagon cable which was off a a bench seat wagon so it use a foot parkbrake so possible to use some parts from one of them and parts from a sedan together.

Also best part of using ford gear is when then checked my van for rego it all looks factory and it's not aftermarket stuff so they didn't want it engineered

The lid n balancer is off interesting note all clevo manifolds USA anyway seem to have the cf cast mark but 3 different locations for block casting
