Or you could put a D shackle through one of the manifold bolt holes attach a chain to it and a cargo ship could use it as a new anchor! fark them cast iron jobbies are heavy!!!!!!!!

Fine, just for you bastards I will fit them tomorrow morning

Calling it now, the first time I fit them will be a half hour job.

When I realise they need adjusting so I have to take them out and re-adjust them 6 times before they're right, that's what's gonna take the time.

I actually think they might be more cost effective in the long run - they're fully adjustable so once you want to change the setup once they've just paid for themselves. Not 100% sure whether my XD will stay a 6 or get a V8 so I'm covered for both suspension wise now.

I was up for new shocks and spring saddle bushes anyway - I reckon for someone who has to do shocks/springs/saddles it will only work out slightly more expensive.

Can't comment on whether you'll be right about the handling yet Ryan/Ando. Promise I'll do some thorough testing

One thing I'm curious about - what about the coilovers with the shelby drop mod as well?

Also they look cool and now I can talk lots of shit about having coilovers in my XD in the maccas carpark at 1am.

Cheers, I'll keep that in mind. 50 thou is the golden number if given a choice then.

1k is a bit rich for me just for pistons alone. You never know he might be able to get me a deal though. Won't hold my breath if that's the case.

2k... Not gonna lie there is some part of me that says fuck it, let's do it. 2k is pricey but not totally outside of the realm of possibility. Depending on how much the machining is going to hurt my wallet it could be an option. I do know a couple of guys who may be able to do it for me unofficially (payment in a selection of fine alcohol ) but I realize that means there's no quality guarantee. Having said that they've both helped me a lot in the past and done a good job. If I have to get it done "properly" then maybe not.

I take it I get the added advantage of having all the good gear for the bottom end if I want to slap a turbo on it one day?

All my knowledge about the glorious crossflow and a lot of specific mechanical knowledge have come from the kind people of this site. You will definitely learn a lot here and by knowing exactly what you want from the car and how much your going to spend is the only place to start.

XF001 we all had to start somewhere but yes this place is full of very helpful people that won't bullshit to you and will give the advice you need to here whether it's the advice your ready for or wanting to hear well that's a different matter. Everyone means well but a lot is lost in internet translation.

Please rip all that shit out immediately before it catches fire. Seriously that is just fucked. Take Ryan up on his offer and I'll even install all the new stuff free of charge, just to see that crap gone.

If you are decent at wiring I would just cut it off at the connectors and pull the lot out. Imagine chasing a fault in there. After burning my first car's loom with bad wiring, I made sure I did the right thing second time round and put a hotrod loom in.
Best get a new interior from some rusted out thing too. More holes than religious dogma in there

I really don't envy your task mate, there is a lot of stuff there you would have to ask WTF does it do.

Is this your current everyday driver? Do you plan on it being a weekend car or everyday driver? Reason I ask this is because if you plan on driving it everyday you really need to rip all that shit out asap as it will probably cause issues over the longer term. If it's a weekender you can get away with leaving it in there for a bit longer and pulling it out piece by piece. The scary thing about the pic of the wiring in post #16 on the first page is you would have to assume that that is the level of effort put into the rest of the wiring on the car which even by my crappy standards is bad and dangerous.
