Cam selection for a VCT engine needs to be carefully considered, due to the amount of camshaft advance and retard happening. Excess of timing duration and/or lift will cause piston to valve interference and a badly damaged valvetrain, cylinder head and pistons. I'd suggest you call Crow Cams, or Wade Camshafts and talk to them about this, rather than relying on info from the interwebs. They might have specific grinds to suit the VCT engine. Otherwise, perhaps converting back to non-VCT might be an option, considering your RWHP expectations. Good luck.

Looking for Cam recommendations for the AU VCT XR6 engine that can function with the VCT enabled. Looking for around 180 rwkw's for my XG ute 5 speed, I have the XR6 vct manual ECU and plan on fitting a J3 chip for tuning. What other mods can be done to lift the power up on this interesting engine. Is it worthwhile upgrading to an FG falcon style coil packs in place of the single AU unit? I would appreciate any info on getting power out of the VCT engine.

i still don't know why they don't list it for XG,(be sure to ask them) I know the Tuff Mounts one fits XG because a mate has one, and it's standard height (there's mention of it hitting the radiator support on full droop, aka on a hoist if standard springs are used)

Xg are different to xf, but you still need an aftermarket sway bar for au 4.0 or barra, AFAIK tuff mounts are the only ones currently doing aftermarket sway bars, like Dean said its a conversion one, if you wanted something heavier you'd probably have to have it made, On the rear you can use a sway bar to suit xd

i was fairly sure the XG bar is the same bend/shape as the XD(probably XA) to XF utes, you need a custom sway bar for the barra or AU engine which TUFF MOUNTS makes only one size. you'd need to confirm this before buying, as i don't remember well enough to confirm it 100% @Thom may be the one to clarify.

As the title says, looking for any recommendations for fatter sway bars to suit XG Utes, I'm assuming the XF front bar is different due to the sump difference between the sohc and xflow motors. What do you guys recommend?

At first glance a xe bumper iron looks like it will work on a xf ,the mounting and bumper holes are the same size,but the xf one is an inch longer and sticks out,myth busted.
