hal351 50 Posted January 15, 2015 Have decided to get my xf painted gloss black ,but undecided about window trims. Should I keep them chrome or get painted satin black. The finished product will be badgeless( might keep guard n rear ghia badge) and already removed all body moulds. Any and all opinions are welcome.

hal351 50 Posted January 15, 2015 Was thinking that way, got chrome inserts for the bumpers. Also keep it a little bit ghia still.
hal351 50 Posted January 15, 2015 Black on black with chrome bumper strip looks good. 2 Ants and tpak addict reacted to this

hal351 50 Posted January 15, 2015 So gloss black body n keep the chrome surronds. With nice set of 18's staggered. I'm hard thinking of it. Lol
hal351 50 Posted January 18, 2015 After looking into the amount of bodywork I'll have to do, think another colour might be on cards. maybe silver?
hendrixhc 10,923 Posted January 18, 2015 Silver is good. I threw round a lot of colours in my head when i was painting the XE and ended up going with the factory mix.
hal351 50 Posted January 18, 2015 picking the colour and wheel design are so far the hardest things about the build.
gerg 10,871 Posted January 18, 2015 Always loved the box falcons in crystal mint or similar greenish turquoise colour. Gold spokes and machined finish on the rims.... Magnifique! 1 NZXD reacted to this
wagoon 2,429 Posted January 18, 2015 What about a dark grey colour? Mind you silver fox which was on the xy gt's is a nice colour
hal351 50 Posted January 19, 2015 Been looking at alot of pics n colours , I do love the gloss black. Anyone know a place ( nsw) to get window moulds re-chromed. 1 Nath reacted to this
wagoon 2,429 Posted January 19, 2015 Gloss black is the hardest colour to keep nice. You will see every mark in it, washing it will we a nightmare. Get a swirl and you will have to detail the whole panel. Black looks the best when done right but that includes all the care as well. And yes any panel imperfection will stick out like dogs balls 1 steve mcqueen reacted to this
NZXD 2,328 Posted January 19, 2015 I would have to agree with wagoon about the black. But if the car is arrow straight it would look mint.

bear351c 10,277 Posted January 20, 2015 What about a dark grey colour? Mind you silver fox which was on the xy gt's is a nice colour Reckon Silver Fox was an Xdub colour. Like the charcoal grey idea, maybe gunmetal grey? 1 Outback Jack reacted to this
wagoon 2,429 Posted January 20, 2015 I thought they offered silver fox on xy's as well, I'm probably wrong again. Gunmetal grey was the colour I was trying to think of, brings back memories of my dads uncles v8 EH in gunmetal grey. 1 bear351c reacted to this
NZXD 2,328 Posted January 20, 2015 Gloss black with chrome trim does look awesome. I think it looks the goods on the XD due to the sharp chiseled lines of the front. The XF is slightly softer, but with the right wheel you could easy pull it off. Just my 2 cents.
Outback Jack 6,352 Posted January 21, 2015 Gun metal Grey +1, if looked good on a Mitsibishi Cordia, it will suit the squarish body of the falcon. And it won't show up as much shit. mettalic with a few nice coats of clear......mmmmmm.... Jack.
hal351 50 Posted January 21, 2015 So many good colours. Narrowed it down to black, silver ,gunmetal grey or a dark metallic blue. The black would be easiest for me to paint but most body work. Have another boot lid I might sample each colour on.
hendrixhc 10,923 Posted January 21, 2015 Bet you end up going the original colour!
steve mcqueen 1,796 Posted January 21, 2015 Yeah i vote the gunmetal grey. Some XF Falcons left the factory in a grey colour called 'Teledo' its very much like the gunmetal colour. I use to own one back in 1998 it was in the Teledo colour with a white and red pinstripe on it, Only reason i ever got rid of that car was 'money', i didn't have any.
