SLO247 1,713 Posted April 28, 2014 XD onwards is a bit smaller in the bay isn't it?

revhead 1,392 Posted April 28, 2014 mate im fitting an efi 02 widsor into my xe its a bolt in fit give the e series engine mounts the flick the older x series mounts bolt straight on and fit x series v8 engine mount plates ,piece of piss ,also if you going auto you can do as i did an take the factory floor munts off the bodu and move them back 7 inches as the auto pan hits in them in the original placve ,plus you wont need to make a bullshit xmember ,just do it nice and neat and rego wont be the wiser.... gerg 10,871 Posted April 28, 2014 XD onwards is a bit smaller in the bay isn't it? XA-onwards are as wide as they got. A little Windsor in one of those bays would be swallowed even more easily than an OHC donk.
NZXD 2,328 Posted April 28, 2014 Yes the look very tiny hiding away in the bay.
revhead 1,392 Posted April 29, 2014 another thing to is the stock factory extractors fitt as well,no need to buy others
NZXD 2,328 Posted April 30, 2014 The factory headers are shithouse, you can get hurrican or pacemaker to suit Windsor into xd-xd, nice 4-1 or tri-y, but pricey. 1 Ants reacted to this
revhead 1,392 Posted April 30, 2014 thats why i posted and said the e series strackors fit bc not everyone has a massive budget,
SLO247 1,713 Posted April 30, 2014 Its just a shock to see someone mention using them. On a car. Not for scrap. Haha.
bear351c 10,277 Posted April 30, 2014 I got Pacemaker 4 into 1 headers on my Clevo, LOVE THAT NOISE.!
GspecZL 979 Posted May 1, 2014 I noticed how incredibly shit the stock headers looked when I picked up my windsor. My budget is tight(bloody ZH) so I hope I can find some that fit reasonably cheap seeing the whole exhaust will cost a fair bit. They looked particularly shit next to the extractors for my ZH. NZXD 2,328 Posted May 1, 2014 Like revhead said, just use them until funds are ready, it will still run. Â My headers cost 700 including freight, great thing is they drop straight into the xd bay with the Windsor in place.
GspecZL 979 Posted May 1, 2014 Yeah a lot more room than if the Clevo was in there.
Jonathan Mark Davidson 169 Posted May 1, 2014 a btr flex plate behind the windsor will bolt up to a clevo c4 and the converter mates straight up to have to run a clevo starter tho then you can just get a set of c4 collum shift linkages. Â and secondly i know its ment to be yaer of the motor but how many old cars are running around with re made blocks and get re regoed fine? wack a carby on (any 289/302 manifold will work) and just dont worry about it. GspecZL 979 Posted May 1, 2014 tend to agree that alot of uninformed people wouldn't notice what windsor you had. I think the issue is that its not a clevo. Whats the legality of a windsor over a clevland.
bear351c 10,277 Posted May 2, 2014 Just the fact that if it came out the factory with one, no engineers or inspection required. All parts are available, so drop straight in. If you give the Rego people the engine number, they'll know......I always keep a cracked engine block out the back, for just such an occasion. Number stamps on ebay. Â Â Honestly, 90% of people wouldn't even know the difference. (the other 10% are Ford nuts). 1 Outback Jack reacted to this
NZXD 2,328 Posted May 2, 2014 Its a bit like a clevo and a big block, lots couldn't tell the difference when sitting in the engine bay. 3 XTREME KARTS XF, bear351c and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this

Jonathan Mark Davidson 169 Posted May 2, 2014 3. Replacement engine is not of a type and/or make offered by the vehicle manufacturer as an option for that vehicle, but is equivalent in general configuration, power, mass, and emissions standard to that of the original or an optional engine for the vehicle model and can be installed without any structural alterations. The change of engine may be recorded by VicRoads provided that the registered operator or a motor mechanic, or dealer in that make of vehicle or an Automotive Engineer signs a declaration certifying that all modifications made by the manufacturer for the same vehicle model with that engine, have been completed. bear351c 10,277 Posted May 2, 2014 Not the same in all states, obviously. Good luck to you.
Jonathan Mark Davidson 169 Posted May 2, 2014 unfamilia is in vic and i remember reading somewhere that a re manufactored block is fine as long as its built to a polution standard of the year of the car their for a newer 302 in victoria will be fine as long as it aint worked off its head whe converted to carby 1 bear351c reacted to this
bear351c 10,277 Posted May 3, 2014 SA regs say no old engine in newer car body. Old Windsor XT, XW no good. New 5.0 litre Windsor ok, in E series. Providing it complies with emission control, etc etc. Â Stoopid, flogbag, guvment departments...... should have National road laws for mods, speed limits, demerits, etc. Then I could buy a 6/71, 302Windsor and drop in my NF Fairlane and get it registered in any state, (Â providing it's roadworthy. ) 2 Outback Jack and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
Jonathan Mark Davidson 169 Posted May 3, 2014 highly agree but dought it would ever happen and we had the worse car laws out of any British colony yer they have to pit the vehicles every year but look at the mods just Brittan and nz have aloud on the road 1 Outback Jack reacted to this
NZXD 2,328 Posted May 3, 2014 Yeah NZ is great for modifications, still has to be certified as safe. So you could have an nf with a 6/71 302 if you want Bear, just have to live over here. 2 bear351c and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
