TF_250 398 Posted January 11, 2014 Continuing on from my thread on the other forum. I Have recently sold off my crossflow and have decided to try a different route. I'm going to try and get some reasonable times out of my car now being powered by a DOHC FG falcon motor. The plan is to 1st get it in the car then get is running (not that hard when you say it like that) I'll be using my throttle body setup of my old motor and try and use my custom pipes as well. Also looking at my options at the moment as the ecu to control the cams. the rest of the car will be the same as before with the xflow, well thats the plan any way's!!! 1st picture to start off while I'm waiting for the bellhousing, engine came fully complete i have striped it down ready for install. 3 slydog, XES and P100_Ute reacted to this

TF_250 398 Posted January 18, 2014 Update on this, I got a EA falcon bell and it was going to end up to deep and way to many mods to fit. I found a Quicktime bell form the states made for a BA-BF-FG to c4 and it was advertised as the same depth as the bell i have but when it came it is about 3mm deeper then the c4 6cyl bell but it fits good Now I'll use the windsor flexplate with some arp insert washers on the holes to be able to use the M10 bolts, use me original xflow/windsor torque convertor and it all doesn't push the engine to far forward at all I'm actually using the std cortina engine mounts bolted to the FG block and i have to fill and redrill one hole. And to top it off it was $700 delivered to my door form the us with .85 exchange rate!! ( a local dellow is $800 and 20mm deeper then the old crossflow bellhousing) I ended up just cutting out the firewall around where the starter motor mounts because it mounts on the left side of the engine now the cortina firewall wont fit at all ill bow it all in after the engine is finial fitted. Next step is to finish the engine mounts off and start on the sump then it will be all fitted. 5 nos2, slydog, Mixalis and 2 others reacted to this

P100_Ute 460 Posted January 18, 2014 Looks good Jason, just need to get radiator modified to suit the hoses need be swapped to the other side. passenger top with short hose straight into the thermostat.. and on drivers side needs to be bottom hose 1 Mixalis reacted to this
TF_250 398 Posted January 18, 2014 I was looking at that today, I'm running an electric water pump and all -16an hoses. I'm going to run the top out of the front of the thermostat housing under the rockercover to radiator and once i mount the pump the bottom will com around into a gutted waterpump. Well that's the plan atm!! . Not much room there once the fan is in but all ill have is the ati balancer and the alternator with a short belt like on my crossflow. 1 Mixalis reacted to this
P100_Ute 460 Posted January 18, 2014 a good tig welder bloke could cut n shut the top/bottom hoses. Mines a Standard corty radiator with the hoses cut out and moved to suit the engine 1 Mixalis reacted to this
RAWDEAL 222 Posted January 19, 2014 a good tig welder bloke could cut n shut the top/bottom hoses. Mines a Standard corty radiator with the hoses cut out and moved to suit the engine There does not look like much room for thermo fan/fans are you going to mount them at the front and push the air maybe? surely these engines are the same length as an xflow ? or maybe because of the vvti they are a bit longer? TF_250 398 Posted January 19, 2014 yeah mate its a bit if an illusion. the block is the same length, the timing cover is larger bit the rockercover does come forward alot i have a thermo in my pics no worries it would fit but its tight.

ando76 4,354 Posted January 27, 2014 Jason have you got the part no. for those ARP insert washers?? ARP-200-8568???
TF_250 398 Posted January 27, 2014 I used the 200-8572 .443 OD 3/8 ID the ID needs about 30 seconds with a dremal and a small stone for the 10mm bolt to go through and the need a little off the length as well. Im using the ring as well so I'm going to also get some 203-2082 flywheel bolts just for piece of mind they are 1.000" long , by the time i use the washers and the ring the bolts are getting a little short for me. ando76 4,354 Posted January 27, 2014 thanks mate- will have a look at both them as I might run them on the burnout engine this time around so I can run the original c4 flexplate.
TF_250 398 Posted February 4, 2014 Got the sump sorted out finally, fit in the car sung but Im happy there is at least 4mm clearance all round so that will do me, also had to relocate the drain. Searched around for balancer options but ended up going the same as i had before. The alternator that came with the engine was stuffed and i couldn't be farked sorting out serpentine belts and tensioners so balancer, pulley vbelt done. 2 Mixalis and dougie77 reacted to this
