The problem is the chassis needs modifing.
The box fouls on the chassis rail and the lower of the 3 holes that bolt it to the chassis rail dosent line up, its about a half a hole out.
You can massage the chassis with a hammer so the box will sit flush, it takes a hard hit to smack it in enough to do this but it can't be seen when the box is in place.
The bolt hole thats about half a hole out needs to have chassis cut and welded to change the position of it.
I have seen a box where the guy used the original hole in the chassis and modified the steering box, basically redrilling the hole and put a nut and bolt through it instead of the bolt screwing into the housing.

Astra pump is the way to go.
I would consider an EL alternator for the set up.
They are 100Amp. I have one on my XD 351 with a gilmer drive
I run an MSD dizzy, Holley red fuel pump & twin EL thermos.
Charges at 14.3 volts at idle.

    Ok bit of an update.

Astra P/S pump purchased and positioned, this gets rid of a belt driven accessory, as a result I have fitted a Gilmer belt, with one belt slot, this will be for the Air Con Compressor, which allows it to sit very close to where it does on a I6, therefore hoping that I can use the existing air con hoses with little modification.

    I have a similar setup.
30 thou over with 2v closed chamber heads, XE274 cam, air gap manifold with 750dp.
    I had a C4 with 3000 stally & 3.45 rear end.
Also had a 2.5 inch exhaust with try y's.
    It moved along nicely.
I am currently making some changes which include match porting, blending the bowls & cleaning up around the guides. 4 into 1 extractors, twin 2.25 exhaust, top loader, 3.9 diff gears & a HP centre for my holly.
Will be interested to see what it does.

You would think that if there was that much crank case pressure, it would spew out the dipstick????

Align the pointer to TC or 0 on the balancer. Put the dizzy in so the rotor is pointing to No 1 lead.
My guess is that you are 1 tooth out & not getting enough advance.

If the old girl does what you guys reckon, I'll be bloody happy. My XD is just abit of a play toy between work, kids and paying the mortgage. So it's nothing too serious, but keeps me entertained.
I appreciate all the input and advice. I will most defiantly process it all and put it to use. If any of you guys are Sydney based, I hope to be at the creek for the Febuary 9th Sunday street meet.
