i also had issues since i had a dart block, alloy heads, alloy intake etc, the weight was off was added issue - coil overs fixed it in an afternoon

I did read a thread where that was mentioned and there was a problem with the wheels tucking too much; thinking about why this might be… I’m sure I’ve also read reliably that later model, defo XE, spindles are 10mm taller. So, if BGDAV had taller spindles and did the full Global West template drop which I believe is 1.5” rather than the usual 1” and combined with lowering springs, then it may have put the UCAs at a very extreme angle - only thing I can think of to explain the situation??

Kings don’t list a lot of detail about their spring specification but one vendor listed Low as being a 30mm drop. Pedders 2033 seem to be a 20mm drop.

Given the experience you relayed on BGDAVs XE, I think I’ll go with the Pedders.

the one in the car atm is the 83 revised one ,it does work but ratio is a bit out,i knew this from the begining and just took a chance with it,i reckon the new one will solve all issues, and start in park like it used too, should take all of 10 mins to install it.

Now this one looks spot on to the factory diagram, note how it keeps it straight NESS and bends look the same as the 79 to 82 one in the picture a few posts back.

is it an XA falcon? (from Australia)
if so, then it should have in to My understanding the same spindles as the later cars @bear351c may be able to confirm

if i had one, i'd go no lower than king lows.
get if they still make them KMAC camber bolts( the pre XE bolts are a smaller diameter and more prone to slip, depending on road conditions)

@SPArKy_Dave and I generally go for zero camber and 2mm toe in and caster i can't remember.

good quality rubber bushes in everything other than nolathane sway bar bushes.
stock sway bar should be fine i would imagine, i'd try it first. (i've never upgraded them, depends how you drive i guess, king springs are quite stiff and don't require a thicker bar, but Pedders are softer and they sell a thicker sway bar as a package)

    that's My 2cents/pence? worth

It’s for an XA ute from South Africa, so I assume not fundamental difference from the Aussie version.

    Here’s what I’m thinking for the front;

    King low springs KFFL-02
    Koni shocks 82-1742SP4
Global West Negative Roll A-arms MNR-733
Global West eccentric lock kit Loc-2
    Opentracker roller spring perches ORP-1001
    SuperPro strut bush SPF2254K

Trial the stock sway bar, if it’s fine then put SuperPro bushes on there as well.

    For the rear;
Reset rear leaves to match however the front ends up in terms of height to get a slight rake.
    Koni shocks 80-2319
Global West Del-A-Lum shackles, not sure of the fit or part number for these 106SH maybe? Depends on rear spring eye diameter, the 106SH being for 1.400”-1.410” diameter

My mates first car over 30yrs ago, a ZG fairlane bought from a car yard with RWC had stuff so rooted, it chewed tyres out on the front in very little time, and what we didn't know then would have been how to check what was loose or stuffed.
when you looked at it from the front, it was towed out and negative camber.. put it in reverse and back up 6 feet and the wheels would toe in and camber to approx zero..
you can imagine the driving experience of that one lol.

reminds me of normal x-series steering... 🤔@deankxf

When I drove the $300 Grandpa XF ute back from near Maldon, (in the dark and rain mind you), it was extremely taxing to steer.
    Terrible even for an XF...
    I wasn't comfortable going over 80.

A look over in the following days, revealed an idler arm with no bushing left on one end.
Some further investigation, showed it'd been off the rd for almost 10yrs!

yes trailing arms are the same until late eb 1 ,but the reason i asked is once i was at the diff shop and the guy said there is a slight difference in rubbers for the pivot or something ? or position of pivot,we also know a AU  pivot is different and can be fitted to xe for some sort of upgrade. The back of my xe wobbles so much as it sits up high compard to the lowerd front ,i think i will buy that set of matching springs for the ass end ,and fully rebuild it while the whole rear end is out,new arms and bushes and sus that 2.53 gear set while changing oil, need a roady soon so i can see if it makes any noise but i reckon its fine as it has never seen any hard work or burnouts ect.

I'm 99.99% sure they'd be same due to i used my XE ones in My brothers 1991 EB falcon, and possibly all the trailing arms too

on My bucket list, is the moto sparkydave lives by.. keep it stock, and work on more important/enjoyable things  (you'd barely be able to enjoy the power of a stock EF these days if you were being a hoon, fuel prices and cops and the risk of breaking something else is always in the back of My mind)

The 03/98 XH panelvan I'm cleaning up atm, has 566,000km on the original bottom end (and transmission too looks like).
Cyl head was done at 520,000km-ish.
It seems quite perky, and a COLD compression test showed an even 165psi across all cylinders.

It's the highest km XH I've ever seen.

You've got it, about the only other thing is the bellhousing, it will bolt up to the block but the sump won't bolt to the bellhousing unless you swap to an au bellhousing, I recently found an in car video on an old sd card of my ute circa 2008 after it had the hot 4.0 but before it was tuned, I don't think i ever uploaded it back then because it was a zero to 180 pull, it was quite capable of getting ot of its own way and it lived through 180,000ks of p plater abuse

Hi deankxf. I don't think there's anything really wrong with the motor in it(129,0000 . But you see on Marketplace a bloke had an AU with a Fresh Tickford Head, an MLS gasket, ARP Head Studs and a few other goodies attached for $500  _ It was Tempting _ _ But until I heard about the other Dramas. Nah I'll keep what I've got. But on my "Bucket List" is to do "Thoms SOHC Mods" with another motor. So far I've done about 9,000 in 9 years So I don't think I'll wear it out. Cheers.

I think in @Thom  Thoms 4.0 thread, it mentioned the air con pump won't fit with the XH log manifold(intake)
sump is bulkier (alloy) and may require the front brace on the k frame moved also ?
see if Thom replies,  he had similar in his XH once.

The compression ratio in my XE went up a bit after 2 head removals over the years and just would not run without pinking unless I retarded the hell out of it. With that I have become accustomed to only using 98 octane fuel all the time. It actually uses less fuel on 98 but not quite enough to offset the cost. The added benefit of 98 is getting a cleaner burn.

Hi deankxf, I know thats Why I keep my Cross-Flows in the Shed and not take them to the Tip! I'll eventually get it going and learn something. Probably like keep the battery charged and start it every 3rd day with clean fuel.
