Maybe something to think about, but  what I do for a living has lot to do with air movement, static pressure as well atmospheric pressure, air speed etc etc. In my line work we  run  fans that draw  air through cooling pads, blackout pads and some cases filters on a large scale. The structure of these are very similar to radiator structure. The air to be drawn require alot of effort from a fan. In some cases a fan can work an extra 10% to acheive the correct air movement for purpose intended. If any of these are either clogged, over crowded/cluttered to prevent stable air flow or in most cases of the wrong design for the purpose intended (fan not right size or cooling, blackout or filter wrong size) the result is reduced cooling/air movement, overheating and failure of fan by burnout. Since the problem only occurs at traffic condition and your fan been replaced it maybe struggling to draw air through radiator, oil and auto cooler and if you have air con also condensor as well. So with a clevo and worked that already runs warm and you don't believe its the motor then either something up front is clogged or not up to the task. Maybe oil cooler and auto cooler are creating dead spots on radiator due to structure as aftermarket ones are of a tight structure and don't take much to clog up or as you said you believe radiator is not up to the task due to size of radiator to exchange heat efficently. Ideas anyway for you, just hope it makes sense and sorry if its long winded got 1 more day before weekend after doing a 12 day straight shift and I am fucked.

I agree with XCSEDAN. I looked at that this option and felt the cost out weighed the effort in victoria and thats if I ended up with a decent windsor to begin with.

The money  was better spent putting into an engine that orginally came out with that model and easily fill out an vicroads engine change form and off I go down the road.

I could have put a windsor in, no worries as some mates suggested without bothering about engineers but the way insurance companies are any excuse not to honor the policy. That wasn't a chance I was willing to take.

Heya Binary. Yeah if ya speedo is working OK, then it's not your drive from the gearbox with the Odometer reading. May be the actual counter, they get jammed up or sieze when someone stuffs the trip meter. Or it's fried.
A new instrument cluster should be easy to find from the wreckers, just make sure its the same model. eg- GLI is a base model cluster, then you have one with a Tacho which is the mid cluster.

Have I run into an XG........... no......... but I have 2 of the bloody utes here, and all the manuals. lol . One is my baby and the other is parts for my baby.
Basically the XG is the bastard child of Ford parts, so the basics, like suspension are XF.... BUT.... with minor changes, that only the XG manual will tell you of. The steering box is a newer version of the XF with a bearing top end to make them last longer.
Same for motor etc etc etc.....

The workshop manuals you want are the Nissan TFN ute manual (rebadged Ford, ford manuals no longer around). Then an XG ute suppliment manual.
    Can buy both on Egay.
The engine is a hodge podge of bits, so you have to be careful, an EB motor doesnt just bolt in. Some parts are different externally.
The XG supplimental manual goes into detail on the motor, and is correct.
XF and XG are two different monsters, even though they look similiar.

When they are running well, an XG ute is a great ute to own.

    Jack.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with asking and researching. Do what you can and afford and what your comfortable at doing.

I have the same unit in my Falcon ute and as Gav said,I haven't had a problem and been really good and reliable and holds speed well. I travel up to Nathalia area a fair bit from the Geelong area and it is a ankle saver. I am considering putting the same unit into the XE ghia cause of ease of installation for the trips up.

Thanks mate, Went in today and they helped with what I wanted. Extractors are in and done now. Cheers

Don't know if its a bad idea. But a heli-coil be only thing now to fix a stripped hole

I took a sample of what i was looking for at the time and he matched it up. The size is standard i think and he colour matched it. Had rolls in little boxes on shelves out back.
No guarantees but worth a try as I said it was a couple years ago now and pin striping not really hot fashion on modern cars these days, but his still there in the same workshop. I am surprised you haven't found someone in Melbourne. If not what Crazy2287 would be the best bet and take a sample in.
