CLEVELAND ENGINE TALK

Recommended Posts

If anyone ever needs anything from Tassie they're more than welcome to try and sort it via me, I don't always have a lot of spare time but I'll do my best. And more than happy to travel statewide, only takes a day to go anywhere in Tassie and back.

Going to Devonport after work tonight to buy a car, and still have to be at work tomorrow
If you come across a chestnut xe sedan let me know i saw it advertised about a year ago in tassie it was a fairmont

just for anyone wondering if that's just an hour up the road.. it's best part of 600km round trip https://goo.gl/maps/gTfjtUhXziGyULAC9 and not just like a drive along the Hume hwy. (although, by now the highway should have more 2 lane sections and cops that know how to drive?)

i was going to ask you about a $500 pulsar SSS that wasn't far from you.. would have been an ideal Fly over drive back holiday for Me if so.  not sure when that was going to be possible.

I know where there's a van..... But I also know that you can't be bothered with gemini rust, let alone Ford rust

yeah i'm not doing another big project any time i can see in the future, even as cool as an esky van would be

any ford dean

if i came across an XR or XT wagon or ute that wasn't a mess for $3000 i'd consider it. betting that rules me out.. i'd consider a late model XR6 to play with if it wasn't too stuffed something like this https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2009-ford-falcon-xr6-fg-auto/SSE-AD-6517731/?Cr=1

like how do you even go about getting plans together ,i know bugger all about selecting a turbo ,i suppose you would go 2 turbos and run an intercooler with a juicy blo thru carb hat thing,or efi somehow, could it be done on the cheap using 2 x cast iron headers reversed and some e bay turbos just for the fk of it ?

I think you'd put on it whatever the LS crowd uses on their conversions... Plenty of different turbos kicking around and yeah, I'd go reversed manifolds into a big single mounted on the passenger side (opposite the battery) to simplify plumbing. You could go underfloor but that has its own issues of drain back, etc and ground clearance on a Falcon would be a hassle.

That would be a hoot but the cost will go way beyond just the conversion. Even with a conservative amount of boost, you'd be knocking on the door of 600hp. I reckon you'd pop the borgy diff, even if it is a 28-spline 4-pinion. I think a built 9" would have to happen.

Phil's white XB hardtop, has done drag challage a few times now runs low 8's, 383 clevor twin Percision turbos, fueltech, powerglide, it started as a 383 cleveland with reversed stock manifolds & extra flange as spacer on passenger side, steam pipe crossover & a borgwaner S475. Ran a 9.90.

Scotty on here is currently turboing a clevo xd ute, with holley stealth efi,

Auto all depends on power level, C4 can built for 1000hp but with hi torque of turbo & weight of falcon would be closer to 750hp, Or just go a powerglide or maybe turbo 400, (4L80E)

Blow through for up to 15psi (maybe 20psi at a push), large Intercooler, fab some manifolds up or stock reversed with flange spacer(LHS), steam pipe crossover, Yeah mount turbo passanger side,  I'd think something like a single GT42-GT45's/S476 (ebays do very a bit), (& even suit more boost with EFi.)

I have thought a few times of turboing my 302C with 15psi should be around 570hp, a mild 350hp 351C with 15psi around 670-700hp. Plenty of turbo E series & commo's with Borgwaners, but I'd go 31 spline axels, 3.23/3.45 spool or trutrack.

I'm interested in Holley Terminator X, $1000USD for ECU, terminated wiring harness, & touchscreen, or there's also Terminator X MAX has drive by wire & trans control.

Harry & Corty are fitting A LS & terminator X to Birdawg (search Haulass garage on Youtube), they go over the install, I'd nearly have a go. I think Cleetus has one on Ruby as well

Terminator X Ford 550-937 is plug & play suits 5.0, 351w efi or 460efi (& i can get my bros 5.0 :)), or Universal 550-936, OR Megasquirt MS3,

For a hi boost EFi I'd go 351 long rod or 393 Clevo, powerglide, 9" 3.5 (which I have ;)) around a 88-92mm single S488/GTX50, EFi of some sort, E85, AFD's, modded single plane, 25-30psi
