CHESTNUTXE got a reaction from deankxf in CLEVELAND ENGINE TALK
also you cant put a early crank in a 79 onwards block because it will hit the block, later 460 cranks are slightly smaller on the counterweight ,and later blocks from d9te have a little bit taller deck height and is the one to go for if building a stroker, also D6 truck conrods are the same strength as cobra jet rods and im lucky to have a set,and also have better bolts.

i found a set of caps for the other block ,getting them next month,at least thats something and got them cheap so a line bore is not out of the question anymore, and it will give me another 460 to build or 429 ,im thinking of doing a nice 429 just for something different, rods are the same and pistons are cheap as chips from usa as most go for the 460 build, just some ideas at this stage.

i took the block down to the machine shop, took the cam bearings and 1 piston to give him something to look at when honing the block,so this time next week we can start to put it together hopefully,i also bought a book on big block building ,should get deliverd soon.

This block is 060 over already and is quite usable I sanded 1 bore by hand and fitted a new piston just to make sure its not a rattler and seems to be ok there also virtually no lip so I'm in luck, amazing what are the chances of finding a 460 block with 2km of your house ? Well I fluked it again.

CHESTNUTXE got a reaction from Outback Jack in CLEVELAND ENGINE TALK
i bought a heap of parts from america to finish off the engine ,now just a waiting game until everything arrives, good thing is i made a friend over there who has a mountain of 400s and 429/460s,we video on messenger and he is dying for a set of 302c closed heads (lol),he finds aussie clevo stuff a real goldmine, and giving him the rundown on info about how we got the tooling from the states then started pouring our own clevo stuff was a real eye opener for him,he did not even no about the D1AE high nickel 400 block i had,he has gone on a rampage looking one in the states.amazing when you find someone on the other side of the world that is right into all the stuff you love yourself,we have already got an idea about loading his container full of $200 complete 460s and 400s as where he is there is a abundance of them,a once a year shipment should be plenty to muck around with and sell, well thats the idea at this stage ,from the info i have dug up so far its double the price of a container ATM,from what it used to be,and our dollar is poor as well, but will keep it on the backburner for the moment, probly one of the reasons its very hard to find a 460 engine latley.if the deal works out i would love a few 429s just for info sake, you no,usual strip and rebuild while photos and description.

They're a big friggin lump of an engine in the flesh...
Just like a Cleveland, only bigger and chunkier in every way.

Wow even standard, that's a massive bore size!
I never knew 460 specs before.

How does one calculate the 4.420, from 060 thou?

All the engines down south here, seem to be expensive, for unknown sec/hand.
What rust dip, does the guy use?
