    Lately i have had this urge for v8 air cleaners ,mainly to start a wall of lids with new and interesting usa stickers 460,429,ect,anyway today i scored a stash of xd xe clevo lids n bases and there is some differences between models lets investigate these first.

    buddy you cant go past a quickfuel 450 d/p or a 465 holley vacuum ,i tried and tested so many carbs on my crossflow,on aussiespeed 4 barrel intake,just buy a new one in the box.

This is the first c6 i have ever mucked around with and honestly i was quite surprised how light it was compared to a fmx/cleveland,i always had these idears it weighed heaps more than a fmx as reading in a magazine from the past said ahhh he went from a c4 to a c6 and ran 1 sec slower,what a load of crap even i could lift this thing around the garage and i aint no hulk hogan,i have found out that this is a smal case c6,the rear extension housing and mount bolted straight up to where my crossflow was,very handy indeed,next question is fitting a shifter in my 1992 xf/ea floorpan, as it dont have no transmission hump like xd/xe so you can bolt a t bar c4 style and rock n roll,but the xf has a hump but i dont think its the same top as earlier coons,so i want to buy a lokar shifter 12'' that bolts to the box and problem solved ? there is an instalation video on you tube by american shifters and it looks quite easy to put it together,has anyone used a lokar shifter ??? they seem popular and the same price as a hurst or b and m ect,any idears.

    Latley heaps of us are chatting about 302ws ect,,so i will start this thread with the 302w started showing up around 1968 in us and aust market and finished early 2000s,all sorts of names like mexican block or boss 302 block inc,there was many variants and roller blocks too.

    next is my usa 400 air cleaner ,the base is similar to our xa xb xc but the lid is sunk around the centre bolt which is great for my xf bonnet clearance about 1cm deeper than the one i used when getting my modplate which was xd lid,it also did not fit as snug as the matching 400 lid.

    Yes ive been using the gps speedo thing,another question some of the c4 c6 speedo drives have a shorter nose on them compared to others with a long one ,is there any reason for this as i thought it could be for cable operation transducer up to xc as xd xe had the normal type im used to ? The 20 orange im using has the long nose on it but the yellow 18 on e bay has the short nose or spigot Sent from my SM-G570Y using Tapatalk

    Lets go right back to the late sixtys early 70,s and then 80,s with aussie clevo,s ,but when the clevo was born the end of the muscle car thing in america was just about over,by 1974 it was replaced with the 400 and m engines,so throw in any 2c worth with rumors or fact,from what i have read it was launched in 1970 perhaps even late 69,the canted valve arrangement was very successful and nascar said nope no canted valves ,that could be one of the reasons i have heard lately why the 351c only lasted about 4 years ,gerg chime on in.

    Ok i read some usa forums it dont matter if 6 or 7 or 8 teeth are machined onto shaft ,just take a reading with what you have atm then go up or down,dave n dean were right but seems im not alone with this c6 speedo problems plenty others are asking exactly what i am looking for how many teeth are machined onto outer shaft and it could be heaps of c6 variations truck/car/van,ect ect very annoying so i think i will grab a 17 or 18 speedo drive with 17 probly reading a tad fast but its better than reading a tad slow yeah ?     just did research xr to xb 6 teeth and top loader black 7 teeth,mine being a 1971 c6 but in a galaxy with 2.47 rear end im guessing,c6 in smaller cars like mustang with 3.50 or shorter up to 4.33 drag pack would have had a 8 tooth on shaft id say,gerg said that little black thing is a yolk seal,not speedo gear,at $50 a gear i want to get this right.

    This is where it dont make sense i had 3.45 before with same 20 orange and was not far off correct only 10km out dash reading 90kph at 100kph

    i have been looking for this picture for weeks ,see the little black drive gear on the shaft what count is it ? maybe 6 cause with 2.92 my speedo using orange 20 is out big time,at 100kph it reads 74kph,i was under the impreesion i had a 8 driven gear but now i doubt it,there is a bigger blown up picture a few pages back.
