    Thermoquad on 4.1litre

picture of the bellhousing area m8,but looks to me just like a normal t5, pre world class are early t5s,easy way to tell 1st gear ratio put it in 1st and turn the shaft by hand ,mark it b4 doing it and 3 1/4 turns is 3.25.1,well thats how i did it with a xg box i put in ryans xe with a 351c and custom bell to suit 6cyl box.

yes yes yhes there is an adaptor made in usa for ford 200 250 mustang to suit the t5z sold by variuos companys like holley and scott drake, also suits slant 6 so check does yours have the adaptor to space it out.

T5Z is the 2.95 1st ,there is a forum on here about this very thing,ea eb1 3.50 1st,eb2 3.25 1st,and later models possibly up to au 3.35 1st,but the v8 t5 comes straight outta the mustang with 2.95 1st ,just give us a picture of the box and serial numbers ect, could be that dellow did have a kit or something,if it is a v8 box they are hard to find,or if its a just a normal t5 well thats ok too.

dean maybe the 250 t5 bell is the same fittment space as the v8 ? just thinking.

Wheel and tyre size for XB falcon sedan

the xb with the v8 ratio t5 will work nice with 3.27 ,will not have to worry about putting strain on the box in 1st to get the thing up and going when putting your foot down ,the rest of the 2,3,4,5th are similar to the 6cyl t5,pretty sure the std 6cyl box has 3.25 1st gear, and v8 2.95,still a far cry from 2.46 1st close ratio single rail and top laoder.

sorry edit, did you say a v8 ? it will have a juicy low first gear compard to the 4.0L ONES,2.95 1st i think as to 3.25 or 3.50
  7. CHESTNUTXE

    Thermoquad on 4.1litre

disc and lsd 28 spline is choice, what ratio is it,and looks like a xg diff
  9. double pumper, the other 450 ones are more daily and street driven carbs,i think the model is QHR 450 D/P and looks like a holley d/p but crome or alloy.i remember the dyno guy just changed the squirter to a bit larger one than std.
  10. holy hell i just looked on e bay and a 465 holley is $1400 wtf and a quickfuel is the same i remember i paid about $600 new ,doing up cars now is so costly .
  11. a way too big solid cam 250@50 thou was chozen by the engine builder althou i did tell him i was drag racing and i did run it at willowbank with a 4 speed single rail and 3.45 gears, but ended up putting a smaller tighe solid in it at 214@50 for more street use.i even tried a new 650 d/p holley yeah the 250 can run with it but an over kill on the street, the 450 quickfuel was much better even with the bigger cam,i ended up blowing 10k on that engine and is the only project i ever lost money on,then i found the 1971 400 engine and sold the 250
  12. there is way too much choice now with nok offs and copies of copies, price too now is crazy for a new carby,i went thru this in many engine builds ,see holley knows the most popular carb even thou small cfm the 465 vac is a huge seller in the states, and all around the world as it suits the 289/302 and stock other v8s ,600 650 and 750 have always been cheaper ,even consider a hume performance rebuilt carby i have bought many over the years and they are very good, they even look like new, tell them what you are doing and they can build it for you,or just buy a new 450 quickfuel d/p and be done with it,they have all the latest features built in and are very light,i had one on my 250 and pulled 210 rwhp on the dyno with room for improvement there is a video on here with it.

    c4 to column shift xf

yup mine is a 89 and has the pivot thing, there is a guy on e bay who does bush kits for c4 column and states will only fit to xb or zg,because something changed in the xc or zh era ,when i come across some pictures i can work it out,but he also sells the kits for c4 xc zh onward to zj zk xd xe so there must be something there to work out,i just figured because i have the xd xe xf black plastic style steering column a v8 c4 linkage should bolt straight in ? the floor shift xf had the adjustable column.

    c4 to column shift xf

as for extractors, you could use block huggers or 2v clipsters which is a very short header, might work.I also found an aftermarket column c4 shifter kit for rhd aussie falcons, rolan australia sell the cable kit $450 complete with all brackets.

    c4 to column shift xf

just doing some research incase i want to put a v8 in the xf ute,xc xd xe c4 column shift is slightly different to up to xb c4 column shift, maybe someone can take a picture to see how the thing works.

    Thermoquad on 4.1litre

i know price is ridiculas, even a cheap n20 kit hooked up for a grand would make just as much power.

    Thermoquad on 4.1litre

Yep the Aussie speed blower kit looks awsome but 10k ,as much power as a e Bay turbo kit for 3k.it ain't worth it

dsm are sydney based seller, yes they are chinese but a 100% copy of the original bosch and all parts are interchangeable,i must have used at least 10 of them over the years and no problems, also you are gunna be changing your dizzy gear to suit the cam anyway to a nice crow or similar, the chinese gear would be the only thing i would be worried about and once its off on goes the better one.

any of the e bay electronics that can be hooked up with the streetfire ignition kit, thats if you want to arc up the spark,or just run a e bay electronic with vac advance and coil kit for $150 will be fine for the street,214 cam wont like the timing down low but you could put a set of springs in it to bring the timing in quicker, most of those dizzy companys now offer a service of re graphing the thing to suit your spec, just call them ,as long as its mild ,a big cam will not like the vac advance as its useless,214 is on the edge of mild so should be ok imo, plenty there on e bay too choose from for maximum $300 spend billet usa 200/250 dizzy,or the dsm 250 pursuit kit, that will be fine imo.

i went the path of that msd 6al2 digital and its a pain in the ass you will be forever playing with it doing tune ups,and its a money down the drain ,your other set up in parts looks choice,i used a 214 tighe cam solid and its streetable and race, the ice kit it very expensive too,i would be putting that money into a brand new 465 holley or 450 d/p quickfuel and be done with it,and buy a msd or similar streetfire ignition and lock the timing at a safe level around 24 to 28deg,happy days.

well done banno ,my old man used to own a few shonky car yards around that area in the 70s and i remember the huge FORD SIGN out the front of parramatta road,at homebush, not really sure why it closed as ford and holden were still hot sellers,i might do some research today into that jk33 engine number,as we all know its a gt but my guess is something like this,a customer under warranty wanted his clevo fixed pronto but getting it from melbs or other means was gunna take time,so if he went with his car to say julbellie ford at croydon, maybe the homebush plant had a block and stamped it or something like that, tbh i have never seen a jk33 pre fix, only other thing could have been a rush order car for a reason like a promotion or something, being a mid 74 build xb's were in full swing production at broadmeadows, and i guess all ford at homebush had to do was turn a destined fairmont 351 sedan into a gt sedan by stamping the shell as it was almost the same car except paint job/wheels/possibly cam shaft, but by 74/75 the gt thing was dead and sales where dropping ,ford made a bit of a comeback with the xc gxl and cobra, one thing that bugs me is did the ford homebush plant ever make sedans or was it more like other models like eagle farm at brisbane with the jh fairlane/ltd line, but i can tell you one thing i have owned a xb fairmont sedan 302c t bar and mulberry paint with the jh 34 prefix which is a brisbane assembly car so anything is possible i guess.

i have been down the 4 barrel route with the crossflow, and found the 450 d/p from quickfuel or holley is great for a worked crossflow, tried 650 yeah it runs but not really driveable or econamey, tbh stick with a 350 or the rebuilt webber 34adm.

    Engine Number code 351 Cleveland

Thats an interesting engine prefix and could be a x file, just make sure you read the block carefully,it all makes sense xcept the JK ,but i might have an answer for you ,my xf ute has a JL40 prefix and someone on here worked out where and what it was, could have been sparky dave,JL40 is the 2nd or 3rd production line at broadmeadows,JK IS THE NEXT LETTER TO JL,so it could be the answer, perhaps a special order car put together for reasons unknown, like a managers car or something, but other than that PU stands for july 1974 build date ,and your cleveland block is a garden variety d2ae casting 2 bolt mains.
