    Thermoquad on 4.1litre

i know price is ridiculas, even a cheap n20 kit hooked up for a grand would make just as much power.

Yep the Aussie speed blower kit looks awsome but 10k ,as much power as a e Bay turbo kit for 3k.it ain't worth it

dsm are sydney based seller, yes they are chinese but a 100% copy of the original bosch and all parts are interchangeable,i must have used at least 10 of them over the years and no problems, also you are gunna be changing your dizzy gear to suit the cam anyway to a nice crow or similar, the chinese gear would be the only thing i would be worried about and once its off on goes the better one.

any of the e bay electronics that can be hooked up with the streetfire ignition kit, thats if you want to arc up the spark,or just run a e bay electronic with vac advance and coil kit for $150 will be fine for the street,214 cam wont like the timing down low but you could put a set of springs in it to bring the timing in quicker, most of those dizzy companys now offer a service of re graphing the thing to suit your spec, just call them ,as long as its mild ,a big cam will not like the vac advance as its useless,214 is on the edge of mild so should be ok imo, plenty there on e bay too choose from for maximum $300 spend billet usa 200/250 dizzy,or the dsm 250 pursuit kit, that will be fine imo.

i went the path of that msd 6al2 digital and its a pain in the ass you will be forever playing with it doing tune ups,and its a money down the drain ,your other set up in parts looks choice,i used a 214 tighe cam solid and its streetable and race, the ice kit it very expensive too,i would be putting that money into a brand new 465 holley or 450 d/p quickfuel and be done with it,and buy a msd or similar streetfire ignition and lock the timing at a safe level around 24 to 28deg,happy days.

well done banno ,my old man used to own a few shonky car yards around that area in the 70s and i remember the huge FORD SIGN out the front of parramatta road,at homebush, not really sure why it closed as ford and holden were still hot sellers,i might do some research today into that jk33 engine number,as we all know its a gt but my guess is something like this,a customer under warranty wanted his clevo fixed pronto but getting it from melbs or other means was gunna take time,so if he went with his car to say julbellie ford at croydon, maybe the homebush plant had a block and stamped it or something like that, tbh i have never seen a jk33 pre fix, only other thing could have been a rush order car for a reason like a promotion or something, being a mid 74 build xb's were in full swing production at broadmeadows, and i guess all ford at homebush had to do was turn a destined fairmont 351 sedan into a gt sedan by stamping the shell as it was almost the same car except paint job/wheels/possibly cam shaft, but by 74/75 the gt thing was dead and sales where dropping ,ford made a bit of a comeback with the xc gxl and cobra, one thing that bugs me is did the ford homebush plant ever make sedans or was it more like other models like eagle farm at brisbane with the jh fairlane/ltd line, but i can tell you one thing i have owned a xb fairmont sedan 302c t bar and mulberry paint with the jh 34 prefix which is a brisbane assembly car so anything is possible i guess.

i have been down the 4 barrel route with the crossflow, and found the 450 d/p from quickfuel or holley is great for a worked crossflow, tried 650 yeah it runs but not really driveable or econamey, tbh stick with a 350 or the rebuilt webber 34adm.

Thats an interesting engine prefix and could be a x file, just make sure you read the block carefully,it all makes sense xcept the JK ,but i might have an answer for you ,my xf ute has a JL40 prefix and someone on here worked out where and what it was, could have been sparky dave,JL40 is the 2nd or 3rd production line at broadmeadows,JK IS THE NEXT LETTER TO JL,so it could be the answer, perhaps a special order car put together for reasons unknown, like a managers car or something, but other than that PU stands for july 1974 build date ,and your cleveland block is a garden variety d2ae casting 2 bolt mains.
  11. This has been bugging me for years i always thought the 0575 gears suited older falcons but once i had a 1996 xg ute that had a lsd 3.45 diff and after i inspected it ,it had 0575 on the gearset,is it because it was a leaf spring fittment ? a EF sedan of the same year would have had the 0578 gears n housing, gets confusing,i started to notice this in xe model where the sedan diff cover says 0578 but it runs 0575 gears ? i have pulled about 20 b/w diffs apart and always get a surprise somewhere,ATM im pulling apart a 1989 xf ute diff original to the car as far as i no and first surprise is the 82da tag on it ? i thought it should have had a 88da tag as its in the EA era ,i also have another late 91 xf ute 2.92 diff and it has a 88da tag but all have the 0575 gearset ,maybe the changeover to 0578 was in EB2 ?

    0575 vs 0578 gears

    Yep strap n bolt,89 model,my old 92 ute had round flange 2.92 drum .

    0575 vs 0578 gears

Yes that 3.45 xg diff was 28 spline and 075,when I traded the gears in at the diff shop he was quite eager to give good money for them.

    15x8 offset on XE

if you contact them they might be able to machine the wheel to what you want, but most rear 8 inch wheels would have a 4 inch backspace, you could go a bit more like 4 1/4 or 4.5 on the rear but then you are limited to the size of the tyre ,probly 245 or 255 with 265 being borderline, too me the front backspace is harder to get right if your using a 8 inch wide mag on a xd xe xf,with 4 inch being the biggest i could get on there with a 14inch rim without hitting suspension ,15 inch can go a tad deeper like 4 and 1//4 because its up a bit higher ,i use 15x7 on my xf with 4 and 1/4 backspace but run a 215 and its real close to the suspension ,i run 15x8 12 slots on the rear with a -19 offset which they stick out a bit far but only use a 235 tyre ,your better off just using the performance ford mag the way it comes and stick to its factory backspace, only other way is to get custom offsets and start from scratch but its gunna cost more and is it all really worth it ????

Definitely never seen that before, well spotted.

    X FILES

Show something that dont make sense on your car ,like a rare option or thrown in on the assembly line, this number looks like something from the factory ,never seen this ever on a xe ,its definatly the original wheel as everything else on this car is,and being a 3/82 my guess is its a numberd prototype thrown in on the assembly line that no one knew about cause who would have seen the back of it in that 1 minute to install it,4/82 was the release date on the xe,and plenty of cars were being built in feb and march for stock to the public to snap up.

I couldn't believe it when I went to bolt it in,trims were in such good condition, then painted them and don't fit, another x file.

Here is another one,xg kick panel seat belt hole is further up than xf,behind it says hole for 92 and hole for 94,so I had to drill out the 92 and put a blank behind the 94 one ?

    X FILES

At first glance a xe bumper iron looks like it will work on a xf ,the mounting and bumper holes are the same size, but the xf one is an inch longer and sticks out, myth busted.

Xf falcon alloy head torque specs

i did a crossflow engine last week and its 70ft/lbs on all except the one the negative terminal bolts to,thats the single bolt closest to front of engine its 55 ft/lbs and when doing a rebuild use some sealer or something on the thread as it goes into the water jacket at the bottom, not 100% you need too but helps not freezing the bolt in there from rust after years of use.i would say your head gasket is gone not a big deal in a day you could unbolt it all and clean up and put new head gasket and done.

    chassis number confusion

yes line 2 was for capris, louisville trucks, late xf utes (not all of them ,i guess how busy it was on the week)searching last night i found another JL40 ute so if you have one they are very rare,my 92 xf ute was definatley a JG40.
