LJDB got a reaction from Outback Jack in EFI Xflow with EL ecu
So I've started the process. I picked up a engine wiring loom from battery to ecu off a eb mpfi 3.9 without smart lock and all the sensors required. Also sourced a xf inlet manifold and e2 head. I've removed any unwanted wires from the ecu and loom and dummied it up on the floor. I don't have a xf dizzy except for the one in the car ATM but I hooked up the old TFI module to the loom and earthed out the pip signal to trip the ecu as if it was the dizzy and the injectors operated. Also when I power the ignition wire the fuel pump relay and isc operated then switch off as expected. So everything seems pretty straight forward so far.
it should be a matter of using the original ignition, starter circuits and oil and coolant temp sensors for the dash, then everything else the eb loom.

I was searching a couple pages on facebook and came across a white XE Turbo with a 250 Xflow using a XF EFI hardware with a El ecu. Does anyone know of this car or have any details on the set up. Car looks real clean and making good power. Would be a relatively cheap alternative as parts are easy to come by and cheap.

My ultimate car would be a mk1 escort with sr20t conversion. Pretty common conversion but doesn't make it any less cooler. Good stuff il be keeping an eye on it.

My 570 came with the manifold. I've kinda given up playing with it as its going good atm. I want to try a 600dp on it as it loves the soft white vac spring and being manual with short diff gears would be better. Carb prices are high atm and ive seen EFI systems come down in price lately. Its only a matter of time before the technology become cheaper and easier to access. Check out FITech.com, Cheap from the US.

Iv got a innovate MTX in mine and it plays up most of the time. The gauge sometimes gets stuck on the heater circuit or comes up with an error code after driving for 10-15 min. I haven't had mine for long but have used a octane booster that may have contributed to the sensor playing up. From my experience with it, Gerg is spot on with the jetting and PV restrictors. Mines a xflow with 570 street avenger and Im running 64 in prim and 58 in sec with wire in 4.5 PV restrictors. The 64 give a good cruise a/f but it was always rich at WOT that's why iv got the 58 in the sec and had to restrict the pv channels. Its still not perfect and im not 100% that the gauge is accurate. Power has definitely improved since leaning it out but il probably get it dyno'd at some stage and compare a/f ratios from the dyno and gauge. Also good to see if I got it close or not, Spark plugs are hard to read if using a octane booster or don't have any experience reading them. Online info can be contradicting at times much like everyone's opinions on jetting.

If your carby has a power valve (and it does) and you're running close to stoichiometric at cruise, and you haven't played with bleeds or emulsion holes, there is no way you'll run that lean under load. The power valve generally adds about 10-12 jet sizes of fuel to the mix (on a vac sec).

Mechanical sec carbs run smaller power valve channels but bigger jets.

For a street engine, jet for cruise A/F and adjust WOT mixture by drilling power valve channel restrictors. You need jet drills for this.

If that's a bit more than what you're comfortable tackling, simple jet changes will get your WOT mixture correct but cruise will be rich. All Holleys, (even vac sec) are known to be this way, more so double pumpers, which are tuned for racing and need bigger jets for the equivalent size carby.

I'd take a punt on the 68s and see how you go. You'll know straight away if it's too lean.

LJDB got a reaction from MNTL.XD in Te v8 conversion in 2016
Its already on club rego with the six. I thought about just doing it as I haven't been pulled over yet and I could keep it under the bonnet with the efi. The 6 atm is giving me the shit, take it out one day and its good as gold and the next seems to go like shit. I can pick up a good au2 v8 fairlane for $600 as a donor car and plus who doesn't want a v8 corty

hi guys just wondering what's involved and how difficult it is to,put a Efi v8 Windsor in a TE these days in Victoria. I can get my hands on a complete running au2 fairlane very cheap to swap everything over.

The nolathane bushes weren't even that old. The rear end didn't knock or anything. It felt alittle loose in the rear taking corners at speed but that all. I only pulled them out cos the lhr mount started to look alittle cocked on one side. I got a set of supapro ones today from bursons for $55 at trade price. The rest of the rear end(nolathane) still looked good. So while is was in that area of the car and my last day of holidays I thought why not.
