Got the manifold today, will put it on sometime soon, just getting the AU ready for a rwc nxt week, noticed last night there is a slight leak coming from the rear muffler liquid/condensation dripping on the driveway.

i did 80,000km in 2 yrs in mine after reco, changed cars to a 250crossy version.. pros were less tyre wear, less fuel, less stress on hot days and better handling.. cons were the exhaust note missing 2 cyls... that's about all.

I haven't seen THIS ONE work below, but i've seen(borrowed) a similar one about 30yrs ago from some engineering mob. it wasn't supported as deep in the bore either.
i thought a honing stone kit could be used for removing the ridge also? perhaps @Thom might know if he's got time to reply

would it need new pistons? or is it not much more for new pistons with rings?
i never understood the fuss over if it was a 030 etc, if it's good, it's good for 100,000kms at least.. how many clevos are in daily use doing more than 10,000kms a year these days?

ok i put a solid day in and end of it got the block looking a lot cleaner for sure ,turned out this one was 10/10 bearings and new pistons,so puts it as a candidate for re co ,also had a double chain, turns out its a 1973 block and here i was thinking a black block.

Each way works fine. Personally, I always use them.  But, when I do an engine build, the very last thing I do at night is run RTV on the "wall" and stick the gasket on there, then leave the manifold sitting on there overnight. Next day, pull the manifold off, make sure you put a dob of goo on the ends/corners where the gasket meets the head, smear along the entire length, and bolt intake on. Never had a leak.
The RTV just replaces the gasket, so make sure the bead you run is higher than the original cork would be. As Gregaust has said, and Clevo king has demonstrated.

Just use the RTV , Sit manifold on the block with gaskets first . Measure the gap . Ensure bead is a little bigger than the gap . Make sure block is spotless clean , then put a light wipe on the block . Then lay your bead .
Then a light wipe on intake . The light wipes ensures the bead takes to itself better .
