Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to Mr Polson in XF Ute Drum to Disc
Okay so definitely e series cable then.
Yeah I know they have the same part number, but the proportional valve is removable so it may not affect the part number?

Tested at 28in Dave.
I don't believe that Chris has got his money's worth but we will fix that for good now and power on

Perfect thing to say dude. For an engine that has made the power it has the only thing that has let it down is consistent bad oil pressure. Hoping for an engine that lasts more than 800kms this time which is its record not to mention the looks it gets from 60k cars that get blitzed lol

Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to Clevo120Y in 4L head flow figures
If I get a chance Clint I will do those tests for you mate, one thing I can tell you is the butterflies don't completely close so even with them shut there will be flow there.
I got 2 heads dropped off today, 1 is a 96DA which is an early EL hybrid head, it seems to have the same ports as the 94AB but with the beehive springs.
The other is 96DT a tickford head, the intake port is much different, the port opening is the same but it narrows down quite quickly and it doesn't have a guide boss, the bowl area is smaller as well.
I should have some base flow figures for these tomorrow.

SOHC or DOHC...I got a pic of a dirt track car that runs a SOHC AU engine and has 3 45mm webers on it.

I did cut the section between the 2 ports out in the BBM and it made a 3cfm difference with the top off, a custom open top plenum would be the way to go.
I want try and test as many different stock heads as I can get my hands on.

Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to Clevo120Y in Clevo head flow results
Starting this thread is a little premature but I'm too excited, I will start to flow test some heads in the next couple of days. A bloke come around today and dropped off some 4V closed chamber ex sprintcar cast heads and some manifolds, I will put up some pics when I get some more batteries for the camera but just for now imagine a holley strip dominator plumbed with direct port nitrous and also a tunnel ram with hidden direct port nitrous in the valley, very cool shit.

so it looks like i need a ef head for my next project

Thanks Dave that's awesome info, maybe thats why our flow figures are different if you have the AU small port head and mine is the EF head, good stuff thanks for putting that up, the head I'm getting tomorrow is the EL hybrid so when I test that it will tell a story.

flow results, again I have been able to keep the port stable and I made the valve guide shorter so I could test higher in the lift range, I could get a test up to 725 thou of lift. This port hasn't got a lot of work in it, just some reshaping around the short turn and in the bowl and valve guide, the entry and cross section is the same as stock just cleaned up.

So the port flows alright but she has a bit of a stall between 300 and 400 lift for some reason then she recovers well and charges off in a big way, the only downside of that stall is that most OHC camshafts don't lift much higher than 450 and that when this port recovers so the gain is good in the low lift but only a 8cfm gain at 450 thou of lift, obviously a big camshaft would work well with the port as is but I will work out how to stop that stall for smaller cams.

I was thinking the same thing Tony about the butterflies, I pulled the whole lot out including the shaft and plugged the hole to the outside of the manifold. The top is the restriction because without it on the runner will pull 203cfm, with the top on it drops to 188cfm and nothing you do to the bottom section makes a difference, the best thing to do in my opinion would be to make a fabricated top for it with a large plenum.
Did a quick port today, I will post up the results later but she goes 240+cfm now with the stock valve, here are a couple of pics.

Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to Gaz in XG ignition barrel and door locks
You can grind all the excess casting off and they fit nicely. Or use an XG column-auto shroud (look like XD/XE style)

Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to n00bus m@x1mus in Go fast brakes for the ute?
We are working on a bolt in kit to fit au twin pot calipers to the stock xf rotor. Trying to utilise parts you would find on either an xdef or the au u raid the calipers from so its repair freindly
These should fit inside a 15" rim, cant say on spoke clearance until its built but.
