Yea fair enough, cams already in the head and the way i see it im not really worried where it makes boost ect with such a light car it would still be fun to drive with out turbo haha.. but yea donno just gotta focus on an engine.. looks like i might just build one.

Did some modifying of the Throttle Body. It had these 2 pipes coming out of it which were for vacuum signal and sucking engine fumes from the rocker cover to the throttle body.
I deleted them and also needed to fatten up the inlet area as the silicone hose reducer was alittle loose for my liking. Plus the T-bolt clamp was wider than the standard lip area of the throttle body.
I ended up buying a small peice of 2mm thick alloy tube, sliced it in half cause the diameter was too small. Added 2 small filler peices and welded it onto the throttle body.
I added a bead of weld to the end of it so it stops the chances of the hose coming off
    under boost.

Next up, cooler piping and mounting the radiator

Yea thats rough hay. Im in the middle of sourcing a clutch for my ranger lately so unfortunately my block and crank will sit for another couple weeks . Yea i think ill more than likely use ACL gear.

Yeah. I have a 94da and a 96da block here. We pulled the 94da down last weekend and the head mating surface doesn't look that good.

We'll pull down the 96da on the weekend and see what it looks like.
I'm just using ACL duraglide bearings but i've got chrome rings. Everything else stock EF.

I've got nason head bolts and timing set here for my turbo build. I'll let you know how they go.

Will set up my block and crank in my shed this weekend and go from there. Good mate is guiding me through the engine build.

Thought I put up a small build that I'm under taking on the XF Ghia, originally I wanted to keep it 100% original so that meant no LS or Barra swaps.

So after reading through a number of turbo crossflow builds and write ups that is the direction I am taking.

So to date I have the following parts:

Crossflow turbo manifold - individual runner style.
    3 inch dump pipe.
    External waste gate.
    42lb injectors
    Walbro fuel pump
    600mm x 300mm fmic

Next to be purchased over the next two weeks.
Turbo - not sure exactly which.
    Intercooler piping.
    Microtech LT10c ECU

I have located a C4 and Crossy bellhousing which is located in Darwin - thanks to Xelisty.

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I'm in the middle of building an au vct motor. They adjust 6 degrees from memory. It'll have a BW 66mm turbo.

I'll let you guys know how that goes.

Depends what motor valvey, if you dont have a dizzy its the only 'physical' way to adjust timing without computer getting involved.
I have been told that the sohc 4L is only good for 2 degrees on the dizzy anyway in stock form. Mines standard.

Unknown how far is too far on a barra.
    Gotta be careful..

Only exception was the VCT AU. That can adjust its own valve to cam timing in higher rpm.

    Jack.

Im not sure tbh! I brought the cam kit about 6 or 7 years ago.

As for its performance while being boosted i dont know either. Ive heard they work well together but i guess its up to the tuner to make it all work in the end?

Bought some 3.5" mild steel exhaust pipe and a 90 mandrel bend. The bend wasn't tight enough for what I needed so had to make it all in pie cuts. Tig welded the lot and it turned out pretty good. Smoothed the welds off.
Got some smaller 90 bends for the wastegate pipes out of the turbo manifold and into the dump pipe. The Tial Wastegate came with the V Band clamps which was good. Worked out where to position it and welded the pipes in.
I'm gonna make a screamer pipe for it later so I can block off the dump pipe outlet and turn the wastegate and the screamer pipe will run down the side and into the trench I made before.

    Next up, mount the radiator.

I bought a CX Racing intercooler a while back and I was at the stage where I could install it.
I had to cut some metal away from the support braces for the radiator support so that the cooler ends would clear as well as the silicone hoses.
I made some pedestal brackets to mount the bottom bolt bungs into, so that it sits in place the same as a radiator would.
I used some 1" grommets so that theres no metal on metal on the pedestals. For the top I bend up some 4mm alloy into Z shapes and used some rivnuts to secure them to the bottom of the radiator support. Its solid as a rock and works a treat.

Next up, The dump pipe and wastegate pipes.

Yes they are all sand cast. They can be welded. You can expect some impurity in the weld due to the sand cast material but it comes up ok.
