gerg 10,871 Posted May 28, 2019 I think it's not too hard. There was an infamous speed shop in the 80s and 90s here in Blacktown (MD Conversions) in which the owner built himself 2x Mk2 Escorts with clevos in them. Street Machine did an article on one, the guy reckoned it fitted ok but spark plugs were a weekend job.Sent from my CPH1903 using Tapatalk 1 2redrovers reacted to this

Got zero dollars though. I considered the trade option but I'd like to know if it's legal in a mk1 and what the engineers costs /requirements would behttps://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/508639419671770/ 1 hendrixhc reacted to this

gerg 10,871 Posted May 28, 2019 That would be a lovely swap, the V6 is a heavy lump though. I would say close to a Windsor in weight. Sound sweet in any caseSent from my CPH1903 using Tapatalk

Panko 2,480 Posted May 28, 2019 woo. Hurry up, I want to go cruising haha keep the Kent, but go a 1600 with a BW auto behind it. with a bit of work they go well. A guy from the RSOCV has a Mk1 coupe with a 1600 in it, Formula Ford camshaft, and head, automatic, aftermarket a/c, 32/36, and it flies. still outruns a lot of cars with the a/c turned on haha 3 gerg, 2redrovers and deankxf reacted to this

I'd still run it on gas but something similar would be nice I think. 1 deankxf reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted May 28, 2019 Yeah forgot about the old Kent donk. Those Formula Ford freaks used to squeeze every last 0.1 horsepower out if them given the strict rules they had to stick to. I reckon just stick with the one in it, if it's a 1600 and still runs good. They're tough as nails and simple as a meat axe. Should push the old girl along nicely since Escorts weigh fuck-all.2.0 Pintos weren't very common in Escorts the UK, only the top sports models seemed to get them. Here, they shoved them in heaps of the later mk2s to comply with the new emission laws. Pretty common to see the 2.0 badge on the front guard on locally built ones.Sent from my CPH1903 using Tapatalk
2redrovers 21,400 Posted May 28, 2019 It's a 1300, but it will do for starters. The two things about the mk1 though... They didn't get the 2L so that would mean paperwork and if I have to jump hoops I'd probably do something like the v6 or a modern 4cyl instead. Secondly, they didn't get an auto. So the question is, the mk2 auto.. does it bolt up to the mk1 1300?
2redrovers 21,400 Posted May 28, 2019 Been trolling google images just looking at colours and deciding we don't like most of them... Some possibilities are variations of...Reds seem agreeable^^^^that may be too bright for me in real life. She said she likes one of the Ford reds, might be barossaBecause it was similar to this cortina colour (I like it but I'm not doing a candy type colour.. I'm just not that insane) Mazda soul red would be close to it but no way José 2 BGDAV and Thom reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted May 28, 2019 All the Mazda colours are pearls now, right? Not sure about the auto but I reckon it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Mechanically, mk1s and 2s are very similar if not identical. Sent from my CPH1903 using Tapatalk 1 2redrovers reacted to this
2redrovers 21,400 Posted May 28, 2019 These days if a paint has any kind of dazzle to it you can just about guarantee its got some sort of pearl in it. The boys used to hate when white Honda and Toyota turned up for repairs, those bastards are three layer pearls even though they just look white. 1 gerg reacted to this

Panko 2,480 Posted May 28, 2019 Ok ok. You can fit a Pinto without engineering if youre sneaky about. Pros: - cheap power if you find a good running engine thats about it for Pros IMO Cons; - they dont fit into a Mk1 without cutting. The radiator support has to be modified to fit them in, and radiator mounted further forward - they’re heavy - being heavy means you SHOULD upgrade the struts to 2L struts, which i then believe means going metric front end, ie Mk2. Thats steering rack, control arms, sway bar etc. or coil overs and keep Mk1 front end. As for the auto, no the auto will not fit in your car as it is. You would have to weld in an automatic transmission tunnel, which you can buy brand new now. *while youre at it you can weld an auto tunnel into mine so i can fit a 5 speed* Mk1s did actually get autos. Just not in commercials. They ran a BW35 3 speed. My first Mk1 was automatic 4 deankxf, 2redrovers, gerg and 1 other reacted to this
2redrovers 21,400 Posted May 28, 2019 I like the recovery van, old school rims, very slick.... I like that look but I'd lean away from the brigade red. Bit too bright for me but darken it up a few shades like the other red van and I could do it. I am listing to the "old school" style. 1 bear351c reacted to this
