E series drive shafts.

Recommended Posts

Afternoon (nz time), I have two E series drive shafts that I can use in my XD.

One is steel from an EF, and the second is alloy from a EB Fairmont Ghia V8.

There are so many arguments on the net as to which one is the best, regarding strength and then the speed limits.

I have a drive shaft loop fitted just to be sure.

Any pointers or recommendations?

With my gearing, I'd be close to 6000 revs at 200kmh.

It would only be on a track if I did, plus a dropped XD with factory brakes and high speed don't really mix on the road.

I had alloy ones and they never broke even with it wearing off in a few spots from bottoming out.. A cro mo one wouldnt be that expensive to get made if you are worried?
