blackxt 699 Posted June 26, 2013 I'm going to fit Blocks as well . 5 inches from stock is what I won't.
revhead 1,392 Posted June 26, 2013 blocks are dangerous flipping a leaf wont hurt ,its quiet easy, take the 2nd smallest spring out and flipp it over so that it is oppposed to the other springs ,fit a long retaining bolt through the centre eyelet hole the get a big Gclamp and pull the springs together ,then replace the eyelet bolt with the original locating bolt ,this process will drop your ute van 4.5 inches if you use the 3rd spring itl dropp it to bump stops 1 Crazy2287 reacted to this
Ants 6,370 Posted June 26, 2013 I do it to every leaf sprung old falcon I own, flip the bottom leaf then pick a set of blocks to suit.
blackxt 699 Posted June 26, 2013 Thanks . I've never flipped the leafs only blocks. Thanks for the info . Saves me stuffing around all day trying to get a good height.
gerg 10,871 Posted June 26, 2013 In NSW, blocks are illegal unless originally fitted by the manufacturer. They increase axle tramp and spring wind-up, and also place higher loads on the u-bolts. Flipping a spring would technically be illegal but there is no way to prove it has been done.
Thom 6,651 Posted June 26, 2013 Hey Nath, remember how boaty and arse about the Cuzzo used to sit? It had flipped leaves eventually broke the main leaf on the drivers side, but in saying that your not dealing with leaves that are 50+ years old
blackxt 699 Posted June 26, 2013 And I bet it is twice as heavy as an old ute . The real test will be how it goes towing my boat around slammed .
Thom 6,651 Posted June 27, 2013 Cuzzo weighs 1600kg
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted June 27, 2013 Cuzzo weighs 1600kg Damn that's light for what it is. XF utes are around 1400kg empty.

Thom 6,651 Posted June 27, 2013 One thing you have to remember a 351 with a 2500 stall all put more twist on the springs than a 4.0, but of your springs are worn I wouldn't flip them
blackxt 699 Posted June 27, 2013 Also I just looked under the ute I've only got 4 leafs . And it doesnt look like the third down is doing bugger all untill there is great load on them . Are these one ton springs. Will it still make a difference.
revhead 1,392 Posted June 27, 2013 no your ute isnt a 1 tonner ,they generally run 6 /7 springs on the rear ,just flip the 2nd shortest youl be right
revhead 1,392 Posted June 27, 2013 1 tonn springs 1 Crazy2287 reacted to this

Beardo 471 Posted June 29, 2013 Dam this thread! Got me all motivated to have a crack at my au. Spent a few hours on it before giving up. I think the au leafs are too long
revhead 1,392 Posted June 29, 2013 thats bc yur springs look like this this 2nd set of springs are xf xg in your case remove the lower longer spring but this removes your load capacity
Beardo 471 Posted June 29, 2013 Hmm that'd give me an excuse to piss the towbar off. Probably wouldn't drop it that much though would it?
