I'd just avoid all the expenditure, and stick with column auto.

Find a blank console - I see them occasionally.
(used for XD/XE column auto bucket seat vehicles - were usually Fairmonts)

Or even the short ones like this - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/620067103351800/
(does it have one of those already?)

if you do get one and it's too long or short or the wrong shape and you decide to cut it (i have done)
BEFORE YOU CUT it scribe or file or grind a line across the length so you don't end up with it welded on an angle or it will be no good in the bushes etc. (exhaust shop could weld it no issue or whoever does your roof welds

yeah no idea why i couldn't find them, maybe marked as NEW
I agree, this one looks correct where it bolts to the trans, but the rod being bent like that, not sure. i had to cut and weld one once because i mixed n matched rods with the older and or newer shifter and or different trans.
maybe @SPArKy_Dave can recall any differences?

    eBay items;
    275449225242
    275449232652
    275449231975 and
    275449224143

275449225242 looks the closest, but I'm not sure that it's bent correctly (I'll have a look at mine from above tomorrow to see what it looks like).  But it wouldn't take much to re-align it.

i couldn't find them on ebay,

you'll need the metal plate on the end because the column shift used a different doover onto the box that links to the chassis rail.

how much have you got on the T bar linkage you have? got the bolt/nut thing on it also?

hey i thought of a good question this afo, would the 2.53 diff be good for better burnouts ? like in 1st gear i mean, instead of that sweet spot between 1st and 2nd,just hold it in 1st ?

next question is what does the 2.53 gearset belong too ? the 2.77 diff housing or the 2.92 ? maybe thom knows.

the XE diff will be 25 spline
so if you wanted to run 28 spline to my knowledge you'd need(i'm not 100% sure)

2.77 LSD center,  if wanting LSD
not sure if you can retro fit 4pin setup into them? (thought there was a 28 spline version though?)

if you wanted those axles you'd need the 28 spline spider gears in the center(no idea if they fit)

i think the EB axles will fit the drum diff if you put the correct bearings in and holders on? (never tried, haven't read about it for well over 10yrs)

i think you can convert from drum to disc by drilling new holes in the disc caliper mountings and clocking them different (the flange on the diff is rotated differently for drum and disc. )

@Thom may remember, @gerg may know even

if it was Mine, i'd be getting a 2.77 LSD diff with discs from an XF ghia/ZL fairlane etc (some were 2.92 for no apparent reason in my opinion)  and then having the gears fitted to it. leaving it 25 spline unless you are going big hp (stock 351 would be fine with 25 spline, I never had 28 spline in anything i had not even the 1UZ conversion)

I already have this xf one as it's a very low km box that was driven very carefully,I'm just putting new selector seal and gaskets through it .I'm just worried about the short 1st gear.
Would this mean 1st gear would be a longer shift or a shorter 1st gear shift being 3.47 ?

pretty sure if you've got enough power you'd just start in 2nd or 3rd
i remember one of My cars would actually stop it doing a burnout on grass even if you held the brakes on hard.

that curve shape in the top pic looks wrong (might be good if you spilled your coffee though)
@CHESTNUTXE shared fake ESP seats on ebay last week (autotechnica brand)  they may do them in different material that matches what you already have?

    OMG!!!!
that's got to be stickied, plastered all over the interwebs and facebook groups

IMAGINE that ratio with a 6cyl single rail, with a clevo, wouldn't need overdrive  and the 351 torque would pull away in 1st gear like it's nothing
