winton reacted to Tyler06 in SNAIL ETR
Afternoon all ☺
Been a very long time since ive been on here. Thought id start a new thread with the new motor going into My 79 TE Cortina Ghia. The crossy is long gone and im going FG barra with T5 now with a twist... Im sick of seeing turbo barra cortys so im going the supercharger route. Number plates still suit my baby then too. Ive got a few photos but progress is slow as i have a Heavy Haulage business and my fleet is demanding haha.
I will be running a BA inlet and standard exhaust for the time being but i have enlisted a Ali fabricator who will help me design the new intake for the M122 i am going to be using.
This time around i will be tubbing it and a spare motor is being built to withstand the power im pushing for.
Anyways pics so far...

The diff I built is 25mm shorter each side after disks are fitted. I'm planning on racing it 400m so the extra room may come in handy.
I don't have any wheels for it yet but the plan is to pickup some 15" chaser/cop rims (whatever people call them) and have them widened and offset changed to suit the car.

Long story short the long axle is the right length the short one is 10mm to short. So I got 10mm taken off the bearing seats making the short one the rite length but the long one 10mm too long so I cut 10mm off the end.All others bolt on. Off set on axles are different.

Yeah I will only pick up about 30mm, if I had to pay someone to do it I wouldn't bother. Not going to cost me anything but time and I'd hate to want the extra room after it's been painted and put back together. -

There's about 30mm difference in offset from standard Corty axle to the modified r31 skyline

Diff done, something I had been working on for awhile. 28 spline spooled diff 411's. Parts are Corty housing, falcon yoke, skyline r31 axles, carrier out of a commo, and pintara r31 gears.
Stripped out some more parts off the corty. Some work to do on the parcel shelf. Next i will be fixing that and tubbing to the rails.

Getting back into this got most if the interior out and a 4 pin carrier to spool. Car won't be manual like originally planed, decided to c4.

Small update team;
Crank trigger wheel spigot made and vac pump mandrel machined to accept it as well. This little job has been sitting over at a mate's lathe for a long time. He owns a small business as well and was having trouble finding the time to machine it up for me. Took it to the Kiwi bloke that did a heap of machining for the VTEC mini and bam done in 2 days and an awesome job.
It is important that the trigger wheel runs true to the balancer. You can get it close with just the bolts but MSD actually recommend a spigot to locate it. There is a couple of ways to do it but this is the way I went with.
Just a small update but having this part will allow me to continue on and finish THOR. Not having it done was really holding things up. Time to fit it and make some really cool brackets and other custom stuff. Another step closer.
