burnnotice1000 got a reaction from gerg in CLEVELAND ENGINE TALK
I pulled out my last 400 block and it's the high nickel D1AE block STD bore I'm having trouble finding 020 pistons as STD 30 40 and 60 are the most common I just wanted to keep as much meat on the bores as possible but since covid a lot of industry has closed or slowed right down in production.

burnnotice1000 got a reaction from Outback Jack in 240 300 CANADIAN 6 CYLINDER
It has 70000miles on it original he says ,being a 7 ton f truck I would say it's a 300 and not a 240 God knows what I'm Gunnar do with it, but I do no a rebuild kit is very very cheap so will be interesting when I strip it down ,being low miles might not even need a re bore

The new oil thing fits nice and this is what olm8 at the machine shop was getting a bone from see how you can't even get a steel ruler between the bores it's like the first are fused together and they are all the same ,might be a bit hard to see though with only mild corosion on a 50 year old block

I've come across quite a few in the last year or so I like em ,I see that block is the DIF casting ,very common in Australia as most of them came out of galaxy's ect,a few show up out of 4x4 s and f trucks like the CF block I just rebuilt

I've been unlucky when it came to buying a 400. Purchased 2 over the years, the first one I went the trouble of getting from the US via ebay. At that time the aussie dollar was over the 90 US cent mark.
Engine was fine except on hot days, it was bored 60 thou.
2nd one I bought it here, came out of a '71 Galaxie with a C6 and I currently have. This one is already 40 thou and needs a rebore, not going to bother.
Gave it a hone but as you can see it ain't enough.
