Butcha got a reaction from Mixalis in Meth drinkin turbo crossy
Always wanted to play wilth boost and efi so I thought id do me a little project and build me a turbo 6 for me speedway car. Hopefully I get the bearings and cam etc over the next few weeks and get her all together and turn some laps.

The lowdown of it is so far is 10.7:1 compression .020 grouted block acl race series pistons, 3.9 rods, camtech solid 243/243 .560 on 113 gt3540 ebay cheapy I got ages ago will prob track down an fg turbo once everything is up and going. 160lb injectors being fed by 2 x bosch 044 pumps fed by aeromotive ss pump who fills the surge tank. Ice 7amp doing ignition duties and a megasquirt 3 doing all the thinking. No intercooler as I will have a nos spray nozzle squirting methanol in the intake plumbed by solenoid just adjust the pill size to get temps down.

this is how its sitting at the moment

Has anyone here played with the megasquirt and have any pointers or a base map I could use to get her started obviouly after adjusting that for meth fuel.

Out of me comfort zone here so any input would be appreciated.

Edit: target boost I was thinking 10 to 15psi

Woo ease up there a bit ando these fellas dont run an 8" race tyre lol.

Be cautious about taking too much gear out of it as it will increase wheelspin specially after the watercarts been out. You will find to a point he will still hit the same revs.

Next step down in diff gear is 3.08 which will increase wheelspeed 6kmh at the same revs. Its not much but it makes a big difference in how it pulls. I agree he is peaking a little too soon but he is almost there. Go too far the other way and he will suffer coming out of the corner.

    Assuming a 225 tyre wheel speed is with 3.23 is appox 114kmh a 3.08 will give you 120kmh and a 2.92 is 126kmh and 133kmh with 5.5.

Watch the revs drop on corner exit each time you go down in gear those revs will drop exponentially. Especially if it falls below pk torque point.

    My 2 bobs anyways.

Sorry clevo im bored waitin for me plane out

Yeah that's pretty much it, that and the fact that the alloy and the steel seats have different expansion rates from heat. Such heating/cooling cycles would cause the pressed-in seats to stress the surrounding alloy to the point where the weakest section gives out.

Lol seen heaps of with cracks and they were all on going engines with no issuses other than not enough HP, hence the engine pull down build lol.

Mate I reackon its a massive misconception people have that e85 or even methanol "needs" xxx amount of compression. I have found E85 and methanol will run perfectly fine on 9:1 as my 250 xflow on methanol in my speedway car is currently. The key thing is those fuels can "TAKE" up to more than 13:1 on e85 and more than 16:1on methanol like sprint cars do due to the cooling properties of the alcohol content.

It will run fine in a street car you are just not taking advantage of what the fuel can do.

Btw e85 works as an awesome intercooler rig up a nos solenoid with a fine nozzle on your intake pipes wire it into a temp sensor or switch on throttle position...

The lower your static compression the more boost you can wind in.

I have always dreamed about builing a 900hp twin turbo injected cleveland but have already built a 600+ hp n/a 393 for my street car.. one day hey good luck with your build.

I guess grab a compression tester or leakdown tester an do a dry vs wet test (squirt a bit of oil down the hole) and go from there. maybe get a camera and have a looke at the back of the valves and see if they are gummed up.

I do tend to drive short trips, as it's only 8 km to work. The big Clevo is barely lukewarm by the time I get there. This means the consumption might be higher than if I was doing a lot of motorway or country cruising. I don't have a problem tipping a slurp in now and then as I get it for shit but I just don't want it to get out of hand. It's a bit embarrassing starting my "old clunker" in car car park full of Hondas and Camrys and getting looks because of the big puff of blue smoke coming out the back

Oil can be drawn in on intake due to vacume at idle and part throttle... oil getting through exhaust usually only leaves a puff of smoke on startup. 1 liter of oil every 1000km is heaps though pour 1 litre on the ground and see. That sort of consumption I would have yhought comes from the rings. Plugs would be very gummed up either way

Setting up is easy enough buy an e85 carby run fuel lines and buy a fuel pump that is compatible with alcohol. It uses about an extra 30% more than petrol.. Keeping a carby tuned on pump e85 is a different story. Alcohol evaporates and maybe different blends season to season youd be forever changing jets. E85 is hydroscopic meaning it absorbs water over time and corrodes alluminium. Even ate the nickel plating off my fuel bowl screws.

    Less hassel running efi. Imo.

351 with 5.77" rods piston 1.678 pin height (stock)

351 with 6"(302 length rods) rods with 1.456 pin height piston. I am building a 14:1 engine for speedway with this combo using chev rods.

351 with chev 6.125" rod 1.331 pin height. This piston is also used in 393 strokers with 6" piston.

351 with chev 6.2" piston with 1.256 pin height. Ls1 have these pistons. Make a good screamer 8000 rpm engine these.

Can get all these pistons in dish flat or dome. Speedshops , rocket, performace wholesale, vpw can get them, summit racing or jegs in america are good too
