    Weber Carb 34ADM Master Thread

It's more out of interest of what I can do/if I can do it. Car is essentially single owner from factory considering it was my grandparents' car (still have the original registration cert and warranty/maintenance booklet) and yeah, car has just over 200,000kms so the stromberg definitely seems reliable. Thanks again

    XH fuel running poorly

Cleaned the mass sensor today and got a fair bit of shit out of it is running much better and more stable but there is still a knock when idling only slight but thinking it could be pistons for crank, I am still going to replace the O2 sensor to be sure. I checked the thermostat is running well anyone else encountered a knock when idling?

Chek you thermostat, does the car warm up properly? Also could be a blocked cat

And get the injectors flowed and ultrasonically cleaned. (or replace them with new injectors) If you replace the O2 sensor, only use NGK brand. NGK is the Ford OEM supplier. Other club members have tried other brands, and found them to fail after a short while.

With the price that Aussiespeed like to charge for everything, you'd think they could afford it all

Someone with enough money to buy the remaining 13 if it explodes?

Revs to 10 grand... Pfffft only if it's 1.5 litres and built by Yamaha. Who would pay 65 Gs for an extremely rare engine then try and rev it to 10 grand anyway?

Looks like it's loosely based on a Jag 6 head, sounds the goods. I'd pay that much even now for that, sounds like a good price to me. Uncanny how Ford and Holden 6s shared bore spacing and head bolt location. I've seen a Red motor with an alloy crossy head adapted to it.

    converting a barra to carb

Jason I have seen a dizzy driven off v belt on a v6 commodore engine that was converted to run on carbs. it is real old school speedway engineering but it can be done. would I bother doing it to a BA motor - no way. with cam lift limited to .515" because of the rocker gear you can not possibly take advantage of the extra flow of the cylinder head with only that amount of lift. duration would have to be increased to the point that I doubt a dual cam engine would really work. I could make a crossy pull jesus off the cross and run 12s all day for the price of making the ignition system work on one of these and then get it all complied.

    converting a barra to carb

I wouldn't call it stupid. Would be a cool project. As said above there is nowhere on a barra to install a dizzy ?

Better off with EFI though it would work. there is nowhere to install a dizzy in a BA block so you would need a computer to run it anyway. Locking cams is also a stupid idea. You have all the features of a BA motor why remove them all and go backwards?
