RM351 193 Posted December 3, 2022 Anyone has one or knows someone who has one?. Thinking of getting one but not sure where's a good place to put the antenna for my ute. The roof would probably be ideal but not like this:

Would be better under the dash, no need to worry where to conceal the cable.

bear351c 10,356 Posted December 5, 2022 Just thinking, GPS can be hit and miss with reception, if you go outback country, ... no speedo.!
RM351 193 Posted December 5, 2022 No probs in the outback country unless you're driving through a tunnel.

You were right to question that, upon further investigation I've found out it is not legal to have a GPS speedo in Australia. "A speedometer that relies solely on GPS will not be able to meet ADR 18 and therefore will not be legal in Australia for a vehicle with ADR 18 on the conformity plate." ADR 18 came in 2006 so I'm not quite sure if it applies to cars built from 2006 or applies to all cars no matter what year. In the end it's up to the individual if they wan't to install a GPS speedo, I'm sure many have done mods that isn't exactly legal. 2 deankxf and bear351c reacted to this
motoSycho 691 Posted January 13, 2023 I had one in my ute. I just stuck the aerial under the dash pad. Always worked perfectly fine, in fact it was always 100% accurate. But I swapped it out for a hard wired unit for engineering as the GPS unit wasn't legal. 2 bear351c and deankxf reacted to this
