Perky 8 Posted April 14, 2013 Hay guys Just wondering what igniting system n coil I should run on my xflow? At the moment i have just removed the old computer controlled system an fitted a older xe xd system witch is a bit better then the old revs a bit better.... My motor has been rebuilt I had the bottem end balanced with 20 tho over pistons a mild cam can't remember cam specs but if it matters il hunt the reciept up, and some head work porting and some bigger inlet valves.... Oh n it runs straight gas impco gear 225 mixer Cheers Dave

slydog 7,873 Posted April 27, 2013 Spread the word bro...it's so easy to do but many persist with electronic that do less than good results (in an xflow) in my opinion. 1 more to the TFI team... 1 mcfly94 reacted to this
Perky 8 Posted April 27, 2013 Yeah I will spread word for sure.... I still can't get over it it's a different car!
slydog 7,873 Posted April 27, 2013 Starts easier, runs better,is more efficient and cost buggar all.I can't understand why everyone who owns a x-flow doesn't do it.I really can't? There is ZERO bad to say about it...

Perky 8 Posted April 28, 2013 It's great on my straight gas crossy it flys I have a bit of engine work done a balance n head work n a cam..... Best 250 I ever spent!
dizzy616 183 Posted April 28, 2013 yeh i was thinking with propane being 100 octane. why shouldn't it match up against petrol. i allways thought just something to help burn the gas might work a bit better. because it burns at a higher temperature. since i saw the gasolene thing on msd. i thought fark yeh might prove my theory. ever since then its been on my list for both my cars. PSI_LTD 37 Posted April 29, 2013 it wont match up against petrol, because lpg is a gas and displaces air in the intake tract. so your VE suffers.

n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted April 30, 2013 Glad your happy with it mate, yeah its a totally new system hey you get clean consistant signal to the msd unit and your ignition runs like a clock.... what degree advance did you end up setting it to?
Perky 8 Posted April 30, 2013 Hay clint.... Yes I very happy with it I think I ended up setting at about 28 deg My timing light shit itself n I actually had a ballancer with the timing marks all the way around......
n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted April 30, 2013 No probs, like I said I heard gas wants more timing so I guess you could try for more then 28 and see what happens... if it pings bring it back till it stops.
